Chapter 1964: A Huge Fuss

The following morning, at Lucian's insistence, Roxanne agreed to let him drive her to the hospital. Madilyn, assuming a sudden inspection, politely invited them into her office. She presented Roxanne with a neat stack of recent work records. "Boss, here you go. You should consider raising my salary!"

Roxanne rolled her eyes and murmured that she might be pregnant again. Madilyn's jaw dropped, but she quickly recovered, beaming. "I'm going to have another godchild! That's wonderful!" She turned to Lucian, giving him a thumbs-up. "Congratulations, Mr. Farwell!"

Pleased, Lucian smiled and nodded. Roxanne pouted. Why does he look so smug?

Madilyn explained, "So you came here for a checkup to examine the baby's condition? Why the hospital? You can use a pregnancy test strip. Checking with equipment this early isn't advisable."

Roxanne shot Lucian a pointed look. "See? I told you so! You didn't have to go to such lengths." Lucian could only heed Madilyn's advice, as she was the hospital director.

Soon, the pregnancy test confirmed Roxanne's pregnancy. "Okay," Madilyn said, "Please take good care of my best friend, Mr. Farwell. If you need advice, attend the obstetrics and gynecology department's weekly classes. They offer tips on caring for pregnant women."

She was joking, but Lucian solemnly nodded. "Okay. Sign me up, Madilyn. Starting this week, I'll attend the classes to learn how to be a good father."

"Are you sure?" Madilyn asked, blinking.

Roxanne nodded seriously. "He's telling the truth. You should charge him a hefty fee for your services!"

Lucian enrolled in the classes, attending two thirty-minute sessions weekly. Leaving the hospital, his excitement palpable, he asked Roxanne to visit the mall to buy items for their unborn child.

"Honey, you're already a father of three. This isn't your first time. There's no need for this much excitement," Roxanne said, surprised by his reaction.

Lucian ignored her, muttering, "After buying new clothes, we must launder them thoroughly to eliminate germs. And let's not forget a baby footprint memento. Did we do that for Archie and Benny?"

Roxanne shrugged helplessly.

Upon arriving home, Jonathan's car was already parked outside. In the living room, they found him boiling water, preparing coffee as usual.

"Jonathan, why are you free today? I thought you were traveling?" Lucian asked, noticing Jonathan seemed more relaxed and lively than usual.

"Lucian, Roxanne, I let myself in. You weren't here," Jonathan greeted them with a smile.

"No need to announce it. Come whenever you like. I have some premium coffee beans to share. Let's have a taste," Lucian replied, heading to the kitchen to retrieve the beans, which needed to be kept cool.
