Listen to this chapter:

On the contrary, employees outside were convinced by the news report and gossiped about Aubree.

โ€œPreviously, it was rumored that Mr. Farwell was delaying the marriage contract because he was unwilling to marry Ms. Pearson. Unexpectedly, he's so attentive in secret!โ€

โ€œMr. Farwell is so handsome and attentive! I want a boyfriend like that!โ€

Similar sentiments echoed throughout the office.

Aubree's expression changed repeatedly. Her fingernails dug into her palms as she suppressed her anger. โ€œDonโ€™t talk about irrelevant things during working hours. Get back to work!โ€

She swept a cold gaze over the whispering employees, then spun on her heel and left without looking back. She couldnโ€™t bear to stay. Her fury grew with each comment.

She rushed home.

At the Pearson residence, Gina and Samuel were startled by Aubree's angry arrival.

โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong, Aubree? Did someone offend you at work?โ€ Samuel began to offer advice, but Aubree cut him off. โ€œWork? All you ever talk about is work! If youโ€™re so eager for the company to succeed, shouldn't you be enthusiastic about my marriage to the Farwell family? Why don't you know anything about Lucian's activities?โ€

Gina and Samuelโ€™s faces fell.

Frowning, Gina asked, โ€œItโ€™s about Lucian? Didn't Sonya already announce your marriage? Whatโ€™s the problem?โ€

Aubree stalked over, tossed her phone onto the couch, and said, โ€œSee for yourselves!โ€

The couple exchanged glances before picking up the phone.

Their faces darkened upon seeing the screen. They usually watched financial news and rarely saw entertainment news; this was their first time seeing reports of Lucian with his fiancรฉe the previous night. They knew Aubree had been home all night, and the woman in the photo wasn't her.

โ€œWho was that woman?โ€ Gina asked, frowning.

Aubree glared at the phone without answering.

After a long silence, Gina pressed, โ€œWho was she? Was it that Jarvis woman?โ€ Roxanne was the only person she could think of.

Aubree gritted her teeth. โ€œThat bitch!โ€ she hissed. โ€œShe embarrassed me at the banquet, and now, even though my marriage to Lucian is public knowledge, she's still clinging to him shamelessly! Luckily, the photos are blurry. Otherwise, Iโ€™d be the laughingstock again!โ€

Her face flushed crimson; her fists clenched, her nails digging into her palms.

Ginaโ€™s expression darkened at her daughter's confirmation, though she had already suspected as much. She thought the marriage would be secure after the announcement. She hadn't expected this.

โ€œI never knew Lucian and that woman were so close!โ€ she exclaimed.

โ€œDonโ€™t panic. Since everyone thinks it was you, we'll pretend we don't know,โ€ Gina said after a moment.

Aubree, unwilling to further humiliate herself, agreed with a frosty expression.
