Chapter 2047: Should Not Have Been So Quick
A week remained before Madilyn's wedding. Roxanne and Lucian joined her family in decorating her house. Jonathan hung streamers while his parents, Zachary and Henrietta, discussed wedding details with Lorraine in the living room. The couple respectfully urged Lorraine to voice any requests, promising to fulfill them within the Queen family's capabilities. Madilyn, however, was preoccupied with the new hospital and hadn't yet arrived.
"Hah! The bride-to-be is calm, yet we're all anxious," Roxanne exclaimed. "I told Madilyn not to worry about the hospital, but she wouldn't even prepare for her own wedding!" Noticing Madilyn's wrinkled wedding gown, Roxanne ironed it. Lucian chuckled. "It's okay. We don't need to be anxious. That will fall on someone else," he said, glancing at Jonathan.
"Just go downstairs for coffee, Lucian, Roxanne," Jonathan offered. "I'm fine. I'm far more anxious than Madilyn." His candor amused Lucian and Roxanne.
Downstairs, the families chatted amicably, avoiding any mention of Norton after Jonathan had already informed Zachary and Henrietta. Upon seeing Lucian and Roxanne, they greeted them warmly. "Don't worry about Madilyn's affairs, Roxanne," Lorraine urged. "You're delicate now. Come sit!"
Lucian and Roxanne joined them, contributing to the wedding plans. Shortly after, Madilyn arrived. Zachary and Henrietta welcomed her warmly, immediately helping her remove her jacket and serving her coffee. Roxanne was reassured that her best friend would be well-cared for in the Queen family. Madilyn tried to update Roxanne on the hospital, but Roxanne urged her to prepare for her wedding instead.
Later, Lucian and Roxanne left to collect the triplets from kindergarten. En route, Roxanne received a frantic call from the housekeeper at the Jarvis residence. "It's bad, Mrs. Farwell! Something's wrong with your father! Please come home!"
Roxanne frowned. "I'll be right there!" Lucian immediately turned the car around. They had previously searched the renovated Jarvis residence for Roxanne's mother's belongings, to no avail.
Arriving at the courtyard, they found two housekeepers frantically calling for Mr. Jarvis. Lucian helped Roxanne out of the car, and they rushed to her father. The housekeepers quickly stepped aside. Roxanne knelt, checking his pulse. Grant's flushed face and weak, barely perceptible heartbeat alarmed her. She thought, This isn't right. He was fine a few days ago. Even if he had an attack, it shouldn't have been so quick!
Lucian swiftly scooped Grant into his arms and carried him inside. "Had anyone been here and had contact with my father? Did he eat anything unusual?" Roxanne asked the housekeepers as they entered the house.
