Chapter 2067: Might As Well Get Together
Madilyn hesitated to accept such an extravagant gift. It was far too expensive.
Roxanne chuckled. "Just sign it quickly. Don't worry, I've backdated it to before you and Jonathan married, so it's considered a pre-marital asset. This way, you won't feel disadvantaged when you marry into the Queen family. Do you understand?" Roxanne had been in a similar position. When she first married Lucian, she often felt inferior due to his family's influence. She gave Madilyn these shares to ease any future anxieties she might feel with her in-laws. Furthermore, Madilyn was a vital part of Flora Verba Group, responsible for the demanding hospital business.
After some persuasion, Madilyn finally signed, accepting the gift.
Lorraine, upon hearing of the five-billion-dollar gift, was shocked. "No, no, we can't accept this. Roxanne, my daughter and I already owe you so much," she protested.
Roxanne dismissed her concerns, explaining it was an internal Flora Verba Group matter. Lorraine, though silent, looked at Roxanne with deep gratitude.
At dawn, a convoy of luxury cars departed from the Queen residence. Lucian drove the lead car, a limited-edition Rolls-Royce, with Jonathan beside him and Jonathan's parents, Zachary and Henrietta, in the back. This was Lucian's first time driving as a groom's chauffeur. James and Elektra followed in the second car with their fathers, Jones and Richard, respectively. The elders engaged in lively conversation, while James and Elektra remained relatively quiet.
The conversation eventually turned to their children. "Lucian's married, and now Jonathan too. We're falling behind!" Jones chuckled to Richard.
"Indeed. You two should get on with it. You're not getting any younger!" Richard retorted, his words directed at the younger couple.
James smiled. "Mr. Lane, I'm in no rush. I'm enjoying life. Marriage isn't a priority."
This earned him a cold look from Jones.
Elektra echoed his sentiment. "Dad, Lucian and Jonathan have successful careers, as do Roxanne and Ms. Xander. I need to focus on my career. Marriage isn't on my radar."
Richard could only shake his head. They had ample wealth, yet their children prioritized their careers.
"If you two haven't found anyone in two years, you might as well get together!" Jones joked.
Richard, momentarily surprised, smiled. "That's not a bad idea. You both know each other well, and grew up together. It might just work!"
James immediately protested. "Dad, Mr. Lane, don't start matchmaking. Elektra's not my type, and I don't like her!" He playfully stuck his tongue out at Elektra.
Previously, Elektra would have retorted, but this time, she merely smiled, remaining silent. "Keep your eyes on the road, James," she said, deflecting the conversation.
