Chapter 236: Leaving the Country After Divorce

"What's wrong? Why are you so upset?" Gina heard the commotion upstairs. Entering the room, she saw Aubree's distressed expression and approached her with concern. She sat on the bed and took Aubree's hand.

Aubree forcefully flung Gina's hand away.

"Lucian is with that woman again!" Gina's face fell.

"How could that be? Didn't Mrs. Farwell already speak to Lucian? Is there a misunderstanding?"

Aubree was furious, recalling Roxanne's voice and Lucian's indifferent attitude.

"I heard her voice. There's no misunderstanding." Aubree said. "Lucian's attitude made it clear I was interrupting them. Why else would he hang up immediately? That woman left years ago without a word. What has she done to seduce Lucian now that she's back?"

Gina frowned. "Isn't Lucian on a business trip? Why would he be with her?"

Aubree gritted her teeth. "He says it's a business trip, but he could have gone there to see her! Otherwise, why would they be together so early? Looking at the timeโ€ฆ does this mean they were together last night, too?"

Aubree stood up, agitated but unsure what to do.

Gina's expression soured. Lucian and Aubree's wedding had been postponed for six years, but they never worried it wouldn't happen; Lucian had no other women. Roxanne's return changed everything. Lucian had indicated he wanted to break off the engagement.

Aubree, her face etched with worry, took Gina's hand. "Mom, should we talk to Mrs. Farwell again?"

Gina hesitated, then shook her head.

"Then what? Do we just watch Lucian get together with her?" Aubree asked through gritted teeth, her anger rising at the thought of Lucian and Roxanne together.

Gina patted Aubree's hand. "Calm down. While Mrs. Farwell can help, we can't rely on her constantly. She'll get annoyed. We need to find ways to make Lucian like you."

Aubree looked conflicted. "But Lucian doesn't want to see me because of Estella."

"Because you're not trying hard enough!" Gina stood, taking Aubree's hand. "Buy a ticket to where he is. You need to meet him."

Aubree hesitated. "Lucian's obsessed with her. Wouldn't Iโ€ฆ"

"Regardless of Lucian's attitude, he's with her now," Gina interrupted. "If you don't go, she won't know her place. Even if you can't see him, you can confront her. A woman with any decency will keep her distance from Lucian."

After a long pause, Aubree, gritting her teeth, agreed and bought a ticket to Bellridge.
