Chapter 241: Aubree only wanted to know if Lucian had come for Roxanne. She had a rough idea, but she wanted to hear it from him. However, she hadn't expected to overstep.
Seeing Lucian's icy expression, Aubree panicked. Maintaining her composure, she apologized, "I'm sorry. You must have a reason to be here." Tentatively, she asked, "When do you plan to leave? Perhaps we could leave together if our schedules align?"
Lucian glanced at Cayden. "Mr. Farwell, I've bought plane tickets," Cayden replied respectfully. He had luckily secured a first-class seat.
"Very well. Pack my luggage," Lucian said, rising. He stood before the floor-to-ceiling window, hand in pocket, gazing down. He hoped to catch up with the other two if he left immediately, and wondered how Roxanne would react.
Suspicion flashed in Aubree's eyes. Lucian had just arrived, and now he was leaving? Roxanne hadn't planned to leave early. Had she overthought things? Was Lucian truly here on business?
Gathering her courage, Aubree asked, "Are you leaving now? If you're not in a rush, let's go back together. I can pack quickly. Just wait for me."
Lucian ignored her. "I've finished my work, so I have no reason to stay. You should get back to work. Don't dawdle." He turned away.
Aubree stood dazed at the entrance, slowly registering what happened. Clenching her fists, she turned and strode away, seeing Lucian had no intention of continuing their conversation.
After Aubree left, she saw two housekeepers opening Roxanne's hotel room. Her heart sank. She hurried over.
"Where is the guest?" "She's checked out," the housekeeper replied.

Checked out? Aubree felt as though she'd been struck by lightning. Lucian had said he was leaving; now she understood whyโRoxanne had left. She had tried to get the answer from Lucian, but instead, she learned it from the housekeepers.
Lucian had abruptly traveled to Bellridge for business, staying in this hotel, next to Roxanne's room. And he'd had Cayden buy a plane ticket as soon as Roxanne left. He had been following her.
Aubree felt her vision blur. She couldn't calm down. Though she'd suspected it, the reality was jarring.
After recovering, she checked flight schedules back to Horington on her phone. Judging by Roxanne and Lucian's departure time, they must have taken the earliest flight. But those tickets were sold out.
Her face ashen, Aubree pocketed her phone. At that moment, Lucian opened his door.
Aubree started to speak, but Lucian glanced in her direction, then quickly looked away, as if he hadn't seen her. She remained silent as they entered the elevator.
