Chapter 312: Pack Your Things
On their way to the hospital, Sonya quickly called Lucian. He answered, asking, "Mom, is something wrong?"
"Please contact the hospital," Sonya replied. "We were almost in a serious car accident. Aubree injured her arm saving me."
Lucian immediately agreed. Sonya then called Gina and Samuel, informing them of Aubree's accident. They nervously asked the hospital's name before hanging up.
Lucian's efficiency was evident; a doctor awaited them at the entrance. "Mrs. Farwell, Ms. Pearson, please come with me," he said, briefly examining Aubree's injury before leading them to his department upstairs.
Aubree, pale-faced, supported her injured arm. Despite the pain, she felt it worthwhile, seeing Sonya's relief and gratitude. She believed this incident solidified Sonya's unconditional support.
During the examination, Lucian, Gina, and Samuel arrived. "Mom, are you alright?" Lucian asked, scanning Sonya.
Sonya, still shaken and worried about Aubree, shook her head. "Aubree pushed me out of the way; I'm fine, but she's injured."
Aubree's grumbling, a reaction to the doctor's examination, interrupted Sonya. Sonya felt her own heart ache with sympathy.
Gina and Samuel, anxious after seeing their daughter, were on edge. Hearing Aubree's sounds, Gina asked Sonya, "What happened?"
Sonya's face fell as she recounted the incident: "In the parking lot, a car lost control and almost hit us. Aubree pushed me out of the way and was hit."
Before Gina and Samuel could fully process this, Lucian interrupted, "Where's the driver?"
"He fled the scene," Sonya replied, frowning.
Shock rippled through the group. Gina, furious, exclaimed, "How could he run away? Did you report it to the police? He needs to be arrested!" Sonya, embarrassed, shook her head. She'd been focused on Aubree's admission.
Lucian, noticing Gina and Samuel's unawareness and Gina's anger, exchanged a suspicious glance with them. He then said in a low voice, "Leave it to me. Don't worry." He wouldn't let the driver escape, regardless of intent.
Lucian then discreetly called Cayden, instructing him to report the incident and investigate. Cayden readily agreed.
Aubree's examination finished as Lucian concluded his calls. Gina and Samuel rushed into the room, followed by Sonya and a thoughtful Lucian, who harbored doubts about the accident's coincidental nature.
