Jonathan was somewhat moved by Roxanne's determination, but he still looked to Lucian for his opinion. Lucian merely stared at her coldly and silently. Seeing this, Jonathan nodded at Roxanne. "Then I'll take you to my grandfather. Please follow me."

She secretly sighed with relief and tried her best to ignore Lucian's gaze. She passed him as she followed Jonathan. Frieda, still worried after seeing her brother escorting the young doctor upstairs, followed them. The three of them soon disappeared around the corner of the stairs.

When Estella saw Roxanne leave, she tugged on her father's collar to signal him to follow. Lucian looked away from the staircase and at the child in his arms. His lips twitched before he also headed upstairs.

Roxanne nearly had a heart attack when she saw him suddenly appear as she reached Alfred's room.

"We've arrived," Jonathan announced.

She quickly composed herself and followed him inside. A strong smell of medicine filled the room. She glanced around and saw a large bed in the center, and a couple of people in white uniforms standing beside itโ€”presumably the medical team assembled for Alfred. The room appeared to be a dedicated medical facility for the old man. As the rumors suggested, the Queen family clearly cared deeply about Alfred's condition.

Jonathan brought her directly to Alfred's bedside. "Dr. Jarvis, if you will."

Roxanne lowered her head and examined the patient. Alfred looked extremely weak, so thin he was almost skeletal, his cheeks sunken. If he weren't lying in a medical room, he might have been mistaken for a corpse. Roxanne's expression grew stern; her eyebrows furrowed tightly. His condition was as severe as Colby had described.

She began her examination immediately, first taking the old man's pulse. Jonathan was taken aback. This traditional method surprised him, given the range of medical professionals the Queen family had employed to treat Alfred. He had personally witnessed various medical techniques used on his grandfather. This was a very simple diagnostic technique. Still, he said nothing.

She sat beside the bed, holding Alfred's wrist, her eyes focused intently on his pulse. The more she observed, the more shocked she became. Even considering Colby's description, Alfred's actual condition was far worse. During her examination, she noted his breathing was so weak that each breath felt like it could be his last.

After a while, Roxanne released the old man's hand, her expression heavy, and turned to Jonathan. "What's the result, Dr. Jarvis? How is my grandfather's condition? Can you treat him?"

Hope flickered in Jonathan's eyes. However, Roxanne frowned and asked, "Why wasn't Old Mr. Queen sent to the hospital, given his critical condition? Why is he being kept at home, on the verge of death?"
