Chapter 327: Choose Her

Aubree wanted to speak, but Roxanne was already dismissing her. "I need to take my children to the doctor. Take care, Mr. Farwell, Ms. Pearson," she said, nodding coldly before leaving.

Aubree stared after Roxanne, her mouth opening and closing in frustration. She dug her fingers into her palm, suppressing her displeasure. I wanted to flaunt my status to that woman, but she didn't even notice! she thought. Still, her reaction confirms she no longer has feelings for Lucian.

This thought calmed her. Turning to Lucian, she said, "Let's go, Lucian."

Then, glancing in Roxanne's direction, she complained, "Ms. Jarvis is incredibly rude. We were expressing concern for her sick child, and she treated us so poorly. I felt like I said something wrong."

Lucian didn't respond.

Aubree looked at him, confused. His eyebrows were furrowed as he watched the family leave. He seemed not to have heard her.

A bitter expression crossed her face. What is it about that woman? she thought. Despite her awful attitude, he still cares so much about her!

Suppressing her envy, she gently tugged his sleeve. "Lucian? What are you thinking? If you're worried about the child, I can go with you."

She had to continue playing the understanding woman to impress Lucian.

Aubree believed she was being remarkably understanding. To her surprise, Lucian looked at her injured arm before replying in a low voice, "No need. Your arm is injured, too. You're only steps from the doctor's office. Can you manage?"

Aubree was speechless. Is he telling me to go to the doctor alone?

Feigning worry, she furrowed her brow. "I can manage. I barely feel the injury anymore. I probably overreacted. And about Ms. Jarvis's childโ€”I feel bad that I didn't even look at him. Perhaps we should check on them together?"

Lucian's brow remained furrowed. "If you're feeling well enough, you should return to your room and rest."

Aubree was stunned, biting her lip in desperation to keep him close.

A vicious glint appeared in her eyes. She tried another tactic, approaching him calmly. "Your mother is arriving soon. If she doesn't see you, I don't know what to tell her."

At the mention of his mother, his expression faltered slightly. He glanced at Roxanne and her children entering the examination room, then back at Aubree. "I'll explain to her later. You should go back."

He walked toward the pediatric office, leaving Aubree no chance to intervene.

Her plan had failed. She glared at his retreating figure, gritting her teeth.

She'd intended to flaunt her status to Roxanne, proving Lucian was hers. It backfired spectacularly; he'd abandoned her again for Roxanne.

Once more, she was undone by her own machinations.
