Chapter 366: What Went Wrong
Roxanne chuckled silently, then looked up at Jonathan. "The reason for my visit," she said with a smile, "is that I need Mr. Queen's help."
Jonathan readily agreed. "How can I help, Dr. Jarvis?"
Before Roxanne could answer, Alfred waved a dismissive hand. "Let's not discuss it here. Lunch should be ready. Why don't you join us, Dr. Jarvis? You two can talk while you eat." A troubled expression crossed Roxanne's face.
I didn't come here to ask for Jonathan's help; I came to confront him. she thought. But Old Mr. Queen is so welcoming; I don't know if I can do it!
"Dr. Jarvis, you've traveled far; please join us for a meal," Jonathan added.
He helped Alfred into the mansion, and Roxanne followed, abandoning her prepared speech. At the dining table, she wondered how to broach the subject when Alfred asked, "Dr. Jarvis, you mentioned needing Jonathan's help. What is it?" Jonathan also looked at her expectantly.
Roxanne hesitated, then took a list of medicinal herbs from her bag and handed it to Jonathan. "I'm unsure if Queen Group still stocks these. My supplier has encountered unforeseen circumstances, and I need them urgently."
Jonathan examined the list, furrowing his brows. "These herbs aren't common. We might have some in the warehouse, but I don't know if there's enough."
Roxanne breathed a sigh of relief. Jonathan seemed willing to help, perhaps because Alfred was present. This solves the urgent shortage at the research institute, she thought. "I don't need much. I'll contact other suppliers as well. Your help is already a pleasant surprise."
Jonathan nodded. "You're welcome to prioritize Queen Group for urgent needs in the future. Given you cured my grandfather, we'll give you top priority."
Roxanne agreed. "However," Jonathan added, "I don't handle these matters directly. Contact Rex Tanner; he'll make the arrangements."
A troubled expression returned to Roxanne's face. Seeing her silence, Jonathan asked, "What's wrong?"
She hesitated, then confessed, "I contacted Mr. Tanner before coming. He made it sound very difficult. I assumed it was your directive, so I came personally." She added, "But it seems he knew nothing about it."
Jonathan's brows tightened, and even Alfred looked grim. Jonathan always instructed his subordinates to prioritize Roxanne's institute for these herbs. Yet, she was turned away. What went wrong?
Jonathan turned to Roxanne with a grave expression. "That wasn't my directive. The Queen family values its word. There must have been a misunderstanding."
