Chapter 373: Think of Another Way
Upstairs, Alfred sighed. "Keep an eye on Frieda," he told Jonathan. "She's reckless, and I'm afraid she'll do something foolish." Jonathan hastily agreed.
"Don't worry," he said.
Alfred continued, "Also, don't take Frieda's words to heart. We will supply Dr. Jarvis with the medicinal herbs she needs. I will take responsibility if the Farwell Group causes us trouble. Queen Group honors its promises; we can't break our principles." Jonathan nodded.
"I'll call Dr. Jarvis now to explain the situation," he said. Alfred gave him a curt nod.
"You can leave now. I'm tired." Alfred had been furious after learning of Frieda's actions; exhaustion only hit him afterward. After helping Alfred into bed, Jonathan left the bedroom and called Roxanne.
Meanwhile, Roxanne felt disheartened in her office. It was getting dark, and Queen Group hadn't contacted her. She suspected Colby was right: Queen Group's promise to investigate was just an excuse. "If he's right," she thought, "I'll have to find a way to contact medicinal herb suppliers in the neighboring city. It will take time, but it's the only option. I wonder if those suppliers have been warned by Farwell Group."
She reached for her phone, intending to call the senior colleague she'd met at a conference. As she picked up her phone, it began to vibrate and ring. Surprised, Roxanne frowned, glancing at the screen. Her eyes widened at the caller ID.
"Mr. Queen," she greeted.
Jonathan apologized, saying, "Dr. Jarvis, it was a misunderstanding. It's resolved, and we'll deliver the medicinal herbs to the research institute tomorrow morning."
Roxanne breathed a sigh of relief. "Can I ask what happened?"
Jonathan hesitated. "It's an internal Queen Group matter, so I can't say. However, it won't happen again. Don't worry," he assured her. Roxanne accepted this and nodded.
"Thank you."
Jonathan chuckled. "You're welcome. If you need medicinal herbs urgently, please consider Queen Group first. We promise to deliver as stipulated in the contract." Roxanne thanked him again.
After a brief conversation, they ended the call. Just then, someone knocked on Roxanne's door. Colby entered. He'd waited all day without updates from Queen Group, so he'd come to ask Roxanne for information.
"Dr. Jarvis, did Queen Group give you any update?" he asked anxiously.
He noticed Roxanne's smile. "They just called and promised to deliver the herbs tomorrow morning," she said cheerfully. Colby had anticipated this.
He grinned. "I knew Queen Group wouldn't break their word." His smile faded. "But they're the only company working with us now, and it's not enough." The research institute was expanding rapidly; Queen Group couldn't supply herbs quickly enough. Roxanne's smile vanished.
"Regardless, this batch will solve our immediate problem."
