Listen to this chapter:

Roxanne genuinely intended to treat Jonathan to a meal. That night, she booked a restaurant and informed him. Jonathan agreed to meet her on the weekend and then messaged Lucian, inviting him to join them. The meal was Roxanne's gesture of appreciation, and since Lucian had also helped, his presence seemed appropriate.

Lucian hesitated when he saw Jonathan's message. He feared Roxanne might flee if he appeared. Jonathan then sent another message: "Dr. Jarvis is treating me to thank me. Although she doesn't know you helped, I don't see why you can't enjoy a treat from her too."

Lucian's gaze darkened, but after a while, he replied, "Let's go together then." Jonathan was excited about the weekend. He suspected a conflict between Roxanne and Lucian, possibly exacerbated by Sonya's interference. He wondered what would happen at dinner.

Dinner arrived. Roxanne arrived ten minutes early. Entering the private room, she saw Jonathan and Lucian talking. They turned as she entered. Jonathan greeted her with a smile, "Dr. Jarvis." Roxanne nodded, but panicked at the sight of Lucian. She wanted to leave but felt it would be awkward. She stood at the door, unsure what to do. Lucian stared at her impassively, creating a tense atmosphere.

Jonathan subtly nudged Lucian, then explained to Roxanne with an innocent smile, "Lucian just finished an appointment when I arrived, so I invited him since we all know each other. Dr. Jarvis, you don't mind, do you?" He outwardly sought permission, but Roxanne felt she had no choice. Lucian's presence made it inappropriate to ask him to leave, and revealing her aversion to him to Jonathan would invite unwanted questions. Roxanne didn't want to discuss her history with Lucian.

The men, unaware of her thoughts, noticed her subdued expression. Jonathan, seeing her lack of response, exchanged a glance with Lucian and regretted his impulsive invitation, fearing he'd worsened their situation. Lucian, still impassive, stood and said, "Since Dr. Jarvis is here, I won't disturb you two." He started to leave.

Roxanne finally reacted, saying, "Wait. You're a friend of Mr. Queen, Mr. Farwell, so you're always welcome. Please take a seat and join us for dinner."

The extraneous promotional text ("Sแด‡aส€แด„h thแด‡ Findฮทovel.ษดet website on Gรธรธglแด‡ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality." ) has been removed. There was also a typo ("situing" corrected to "sitting").
