Chapter 600

Later that morning, after sending the boys to kindergarten, Lysa found a man outside her door with a bouquet of roses. He was just about to ring the doorbell. She was perplexed. She'd met many of Roxanne's male friends, but none had ever delivered flowers personally.

"Hi, may I know who you are?" Lysa asked, approaching him with a puzzled expression.

The man explained he was a deliveryman from a florist. He'd arrived earlier, tried the doorbell several times, but received no answer. He was about to leave when he saw Lysa.

Lysa took the bouquet. "Oh, thank you. I'll pass it to the recipient." She dismissed the deliveryman and entered the mansion.

Inside, Roxanne was struggling to reach the door when she saw Lysa carrying the roses. "What's this?" she asked, stunned. She'd slept poorly the night before and had slept in. The doorbell had roused her, but stopped ringing before she could answer it. She assumed it was a deliveryman, whom Lysa had met outside.

"Ms. Jarvis, why are you up? Your wound reopened! You need rest!" Lysa set down the flowers and helped Roxanne to the couch.

Roxanne stared at the red roses, her brow furrowed. She didn't know who would send them.

Noticing Roxanne's confusion, Lysa explained, "I met the deliveryman. He said a gentleman sent them to this address."

Roxanne remained puzzled, and Lysa felt equally lost. It seemed even Roxanne didn't know the sender.

They stared at the bouquet until Lysa noticed a card. "There's a card! Do you want to see it?"

Roxanne nodded. They hoped it held a clue. Lysa retrieved and handed the card to Roxanne, who opened it with apprehension. A single glance revealed the sender: Lucian's handwriting and signature were unmistakable. His message read simply, "Let's be honest with each other."

Roxanne's heart tightened. It felt like a message from Lucian.

"Mr. Farwell?" Lysa exclaimed, surprised. She'd suspected a connection between Roxanne and Lucian, but hadn't realized it had progressed this far. She mused, "They do seem rather compatible."

Roxanne collected herself, forcing a smile. "Perhaps it was a mistake. I'll call and check."

Lysa doubted this. She didn't believe Lucian would carelessly send roses to the wrong address.
