Chapter 601
Roxanne called Lucian. Meanwhile, at Farwell Group, Lucian sat at the head of the conference table, listening to a subordinate's report. The conference room was silent until a phone vibrated. All eyes turned to the sourceโLucian's phone. Everyone waited expectantly. Normally, Lucian would end the call and resume the meeting. However, after frowning at the caller ID, he paused, then grimly announced, "That's all for today's meeting." He rose, phone in hand, and left the room. The stunned colleagues exchanged puzzled glances; this was unprecedented. They wondered if the call was work-related.
Lucian, with a solemn expression, returned to his office. He answered the call, but remained silent. Roxanne, gazing at a large bouquet of roses, said, "Mr. Farwell." Lucian, startled, felt nervous. "What is it?" he asked.
He assumed Roxanne was calling about the roses. "Nothing really," she replied calmly. "I received a bouquet with your name on the card. I just wanted to check if you sent them to the wrong place."
Lucian's eyes darkened. He was about to respond, but Jonathan's advice stilled him. "No, I meant to send them to you," he said. Silence followed. Roxanne felt a surge of panic, unsure of his intentions. When she didn't respond, Lucian anxiously asked, "Did you see the card?"
Regaining her composure, Roxanne countered, "Mr. Farwell, why did you send me roses? You know what they symbolize."
Lucian's brows furrowed. This is the first time I've given anyone roses. Isn't it enough to show my sincerity? Does she truly not understand, or does she doubt my feelings?
Roxanne, suppressing her emotions, continued casually, "Since you know what they mean, please don't send them indiscriminately. It puts me in a difficult position."
Lysa, overhearing only Roxanne's side, frowned disapprovingly. It's obvious Mr. Farwell didn't send the flowers by mistake. Even someone like me knows what roses mean. Why does Ms. Jarvis doubt his intentions?
