Chapter 609

After dropping the children off at kindergarten, Lucian drove to the florist. The florist, recognizing him from the previous day, greeted him eagerly. Lucian nodded curtly, his frown suggesting he knew she remembered the returned flowers. The florist, visibly nervous, stammered, "Is there anything else you need? What did you think of the flowers yesterday?" She immediately regretted the question, realizing her mistake.

Her anxiety palpable, she fell silent, fearing his displeasure. Lucian's grim expression confirmed her apprehension. She lowered her head, unable to speak.

"From today onward," Lucian instructed, "send the freshest flowers you have to this address every day. Your choice of blooms." He no longer felt the need to conceal his influence.

Relief, quickly blossoming into delight, washed over the florist. Mr. Farwell wasn't blaming them! He was ordering more flowers. Perhaps he was pleased with their shop. She nodded eagerly. "All right! We'll send her the finest flowers daily!"

Lucian scanned a QR code to pay. Then, a new worry struck the florist. "Um, Mr. Farwell... what if the flowers are returned again?"

A sudden chill filled the air. Lucian's expression darkened; he'd nearly forgotten that possibility. If she continues to refuseโ€ฆ He considered it briefly. "Just do as she says," he finally replied.

The florist sighed inwardly, wondering about the woman who commanded such attention from Mr. Farwell. Daily flowers, and his unconcern about their rejection? Astonishing.

"In that case," she suggested tactfully, "would you like a card? Should we write it, or would you prefer to?" The thought of seeing the handsome Mr. Farwell daily, if he wrote them personally, briefly enthralled her.

Lucian's brows furrowed slightly. "No, I won't." Roxanne hadn't noticed the card last time; besides, he didn't know what to write, and she'd likely recognize the flowers regardless.

Disappointed, the florist nodded. "All right."

Checking the time, Lucian departed promptly.

Back at the company, Cayden awaited Lucian outside his office. He greeted his boss upon seeing him exit the elevator and relayed the day's schedule. They discussed this as they walked into Lucian's office.

Inside, Cayden's gaze fell upon the flaming red roses from the previous day, still on the couch. His attention wandered.

Lucian frowned, noticing Cayden's distraction. "What are you thinking about?"
