Chapter 641

โ€œIโ€™ll send Ms. Jarvis back,โ€ Jackโ€™s voice came from the side.

Roxanne froze, quickly replying, โ€œItโ€™s fine.โ€ Even though they were friendly, she didn't feel close enough to Jack for him to offer her a ride home. She'd rejected Larry's offer due to inconvenience, but rejected Jack's because of their closer relationship. Jack, naturally, noticed the distinction, though it disappointed him.

โ€œThereโ€™s no need to be so courteous, Ms. Jarvis. Weโ€™ll be working together soon. I just want us to get closer for better collaboration,โ€ he said, suppressing his unexpected feelings. โ€œAlso, Iโ€™m going back to my place, and your house is on the way. It wonโ€™t be troublesome.โ€

A crease appeared between Roxanneโ€™s brows. Every excuse sheโ€™d considered had been preemptively dismissed. While still feeling it inappropriate, she couldn't find a reason to refuse.

Larry chimed in, โ€œIn that case, accept Mr. Damarisโ€™ offer, Roxanne.โ€ He clearly preferred Jack escorting Roxanne over a taxi.

With both men insisting, Roxanne agreed. โ€œSorry for the trouble, Mr. Damaris.โ€

Jack sighed inwardly, offering a reassuring smile. โ€œItโ€™s nothing.โ€

The three waited at the hotel entrance, discussing their collaboration, when footsteps sounded behind them. They assumed a group had just left the hotel restaurant and stepped aside to let them pass without turning.

โ€œSlow down, Jessica!โ€

Several young women were supporting a heavily intoxicated Jessica, their faces etched with worry. After leaving the event earlier, Jessica had consumed excessive wine and become angry. It took her friends considerable effort to calm her before helping her leave.

Muttering incoherently, Jessica slurred, โ€œRoxanne Jarvis, huh? Just you wait! Jackโ€™s mineโ€ฆโ€

As her friends were about to respond, they saw Roxanne and the two men. Jessica continued her rant.

โ€œJessica, stop it!โ€ one woman said.

Jessica shoved her aside, snapping, โ€œDonโ€™t touch me! Youโ€™re on Jarvisโ€™ side, arenโ€™t you? How dare you defend her?โ€ The shoved woman glanced at Roxanne as Jessica began swearing, her eyes reddening with panic. Jessica finally recognized Roxanne.

โ€œRoxanne!โ€ Jessica stumbled towards her.

Roxanne's brow furrowed, her expression darkening. Hoping to avoid trouble, sheโ€™d initially pretended not to hear Jessica. Jessica knew Jack; a confrontation would put him in a difficult position. She hadnโ€™t anticipated Jessica noticing her, let alone approaching.
