Chapter 732: Troubling Alfred

In the evening, after kindergarten, Archie and Benny found their father waiting, a look of confusion on their faces.

"Your mother has a prior engagement, so I'll be taking you to school for the next few days," Lucian explained in a low voice.

The boys exchanged glances but didn't dwell on it; from their perspective, either parent sufficed. The fact that their mother was entrusting their school transport to their father felt like a positive development in their parents' relationship. Secretly pleased, Archie and Benny obediently followed Lucian to the car. Estella was equally delighted; Daddy's school-run duty meant daily visits to Ms. Jarvis's house! The three children chattered happily in the backseat.

Lucian, however, wore a solemn expression, his thoughts preoccupied with Roxanne. He suspected Jessica's involvement, believing his previous warning to the Hightowers hadn't been sufficient.

He stopped at Roxanne's house and took the children inside. Roxanne, engrossed in preparing dinner and lost in thought, didn't notice their return until they excitedly ran into the kitchen after changing their shoes.

"Mommy!"

Roxanne's attention snapped back, and she smiled down at them. Benny hugged her leg. "Mommy, why did Mr. Farwell pick us up? Where's Aunt Madilyn?"

Roxanne's gaze involuntarily drifted to Lucian in the living room. Unprepared for the question, she stammered a hasty excuse. "Aunt Madilyn's working overtime for the next two days."

Benny sensed her unease but assumed she was shy about their parents' relationship, nodding understandingly. "Okay. We'll be good and listen to Mr. Farwell."

Relieved, Roxanne absentmindedly patted their heads. Seeing them clustered around Roxanne, Lucian excused himself to the balcony and called Jonathan.

Jonathan, having recently learned about Roxanne's situation, answered immediately. "I know about Dr. Jarvis's predicament. I'm ready to assist."

Lucian smiled. "That's why I called."

Online, the main concern was Roxanne's qualifications and how she secured her position on the Damaris family project. Alfred held the only definitive answer. His intervention would quell the speculation, but it would also inevitably involve the Queen family.

"Don't worry," Jonathan assured him. "Dr. Jarvis's problems are our problems. My family will help. We're the only ones who can."

Lucian agreed. "This requires Old Mr. Queen's intervention. I'll visit to thank him later."
