Chapter 738: No Evidence

Lucian frowned at the boys' chatter, eventually deciding to remain silent. As the children watched eagerly, he sat at the table and sipped the drink Archie and Benny had made. Estella happily joined him, taking a mouthful and ending up with a milk mustache. "Archie, Benny, you guys are amazing!" she exclaimed.

Roxanne chuckled at Estella's admiration, handing her a tissue. "Wow! I've never even made breakfast for myself before!"

Archie and Benny beamed at the compliment. Lucian said quietly, "You could have told me if you didn't have time to prepare breakfast. I can always take the kids out to eat."

Roxanne suddenly remembered her earlier call and turned to Lucian. "I've already settled everything, Mr. Farwell. I won't trouble you again." They both understood the reference, though the children remained unaware. The children only knew they would no longer attend the same school, a fact that disappointed them greatly.

Puzzled, Lucian glanced at Roxanne. He thought, What? I can't believe Roxanne has managed to settle the matter. I left so hastily this morning I haven't even read the online discussion. Did the Farwell Group's warning to the Hightower family last night work? Was that why everything worked out?

"Professor Lambert helped me quite a bit," Roxanne smiled. "That's why it went so smoothly."

Lucian's doubts eased; Harvey was far more influential in the medical field than the Farwell Group. However, it wasn't appropriate to discuss the matter in front of the children, so he simply nodded. "Got it."

After breakfast, Roxanne felt confident there would be no problems at the research institute and set out with her family. The three children followed Lucian's car to kindergarten. Roxanne dropped the children off with Pippa and watched them enter the school. Instead of leaving, she turned to Lucian. "Thank you for your help, Mr. Farwell."

Surprised, Lucian raised an eyebrow. That's odd. I did help, but I kept it discreet. How did she find out?

"I called Mr. Queen," Roxanne explained hastily. "And without the pressure from the Farwell Group, I doubt Jessica would have apologized publicly."

Roxanne was shocked by Jessica's public apology the previous night. This, however, had led to immediate results from Harvey's morning interview. She had suspected Jessica masterminded the controversy, but lacked evidence. Jessica wouldn't apologize willingly, implying someone else was involved. Jack had investigated early that morning, but her silence suggested the Damaris family weren't implicated.

Her only conclusion was Lucian's intervention. Come to think of it, isn't it strange that he's been helping me so much in secret?

Realizing Roxanne knew, Lucian dropped his pretense. "Please be more careful if you encounter a similar situation again."

Roxanne nodded sheepishly.
