Chapter 776: Never Allow Her Close To Another Man
โWhat exactly are you thinking?โ Lucianโs voice was slightly hoarse. Heโd feigned sleep upon hearing Roxanne leave her room, forgetting, in his haste, the blanket heโd only partially opened. He never expected her to try tucking it around him.
Moments before, her relationship with another man had irritated him; now, a touch of tenderness from her melted his heart.
Roxanne was stunned. Quickly recovering, she instinctively pushed him away. To her surprise, his grip tightened, preventing her escape.
Lucianโs voice murmured near her ear, โWhen will you accept me?โ
Roxanneโs eyes narrowed. She snapped her head to the side, gazing at the man inches from her face. Her brow furrowed, and her voice hardened. โYouโre delirious, Lucian! Let go of me!โ
Lucian chuckled enigmatically. โYou provoked me first.โ
Roxanne was bewildered, understanding only when the earlier events flashed in her mind. โYou werenโt asleep?โ
Raising an eyebrow, Lucian chuckled. โI considered Bennyโs mumbling earlier, and I think we can make it a reality.โ
The memory of Bennyโs sleepy words jolted Roxanne. Her struggles intensified. โHe was just mumbling, Mr. Farwellโฆโ
โAs you said, the boys had no father from birth. Essie had no mother.โ Lucian looked meaningfully at her. โThe boys arenโt averse to me. For their sake, you should consider me, Ms. Jarvis.โ
Roxanne hesitated. The scales were tipping. The children lacked complete families. A relationship with him would at least compensate Archie and Benny for the absence of their father.
But Estella remained a source of unease. โChildren want their biological parents, if possible.โ She still didn't know Estella's mother or how she'd become involved with Lucian, much less why sheโd left after Essie's birth. His obvious love for Essie spoke volumes about his feelings for her mother.
Unaware of her thoughts, Lucian assumed she still longed for Archie and Bennyโs father. His voice grew cold. โYouโre still pining after that man?โ
Roxanne frowned, jolted from her reverie.
โYouโre waiting for him, even though he abandoned you and your sons?โ Lucianโs voice was anguished and vexed. His eyes were dark and gloomy.
Roxanne froze, then a wry smile touched her lips. He didn't yet know the โscumbagโ was himself.
His silence chilled the air. Possessively, he declared, โIf he dares approach you again, Iโll never let him go!โ He added silently, No matter her feelings, as long as I live, Iโll never allow her near another man, especially one who hurt her.
