Chapter 792: Why Did Lucian Suddenly Appear?

The following night, after preparing, Roxanne went downstairs to meet Jack. However, Archie and Benny stopped her. "Mommy, isn't Mr. Damaris picking you up?"

They had waited, but Lucian was nowhere to be seen. Roxanne was puzzled. "Mr. Damaris wants to meet our collaborators early, so I'm going alone. What's wrong?"

Archie and Benny exchanged a look, grinned, and blocked her path. "What's up with you two?" Roxanne asked, bending down.

They fell silent. "But Mommy, Aunt Madilyn hasn't arrived yet," Archie piped up. Roxanne checked the time. Madilyn should have finished work.

They'd agreed Madilyn would come directly after work, but she was late. With nightfall approaching, Roxanne worried about leaving Archie and Benny alone.

"Let me call her." Roxanne phoned Madilyn, who answered immediately. Before Roxanne could speak, Madilyn exclaimed, "Give me ten more minutes! I'm stuck in traffic!"

Then, Madilyn mumbled, "The car in front looks so familiar..."

Roxanne felt a pang of worry. "What's wrong? Is it someone we know?"

The more Madilyn looked, the more familiar the car seemed. "Looks like it's heading toward our residential area. He's probably a resident."

Even after prolonged observation, she couldn't identify the driver.

Roxanne said, "Be careful. I'll leave once you arrive."

"Okay," Madilyn replied before hanging up.

Upon entering their residential area, Madilyn saw the car ahead, traveling in the same direction. Where have I seen this car before?

Madilyn's expression froze as she watched a Bentley stop in front of Roxanne's house. I remember now! It's Lucian's car! Didn't Roxanne say she's going to a business event? Why did Lucian suddenly appear? Are they going together?

Confusion filled Madilyn. She hesitated, unsure whether to approach, knowing Lucian pursued Roxanne; she didn't want to intrude.

Meanwhile, Roxanne heard the doorbell and assumed it was Madilyn. She opened the door.

"You're here! I'll—"

She stopped, meeting Lucian's gaze. Silence hung in the air. Roxanne, forcing calm, asked, "What are you doing here?"

She looked past him; Estella wasn't there. Roxanne's heart skipped a beat. "Is Essie unwell?" Lucian always brought Estella. Her absence suggested an allergic reaction.

Lucian remained silent.
