Chapter 811: Stupid Things

โ€œMs. Queen, youโ€”โ€ Jonathanโ€™s assistant, confronting Frieda outside his office, began to speak, but she signaled him to silence. He remained quiet as Frieda pressed her ear to the door, eavesdropping.

Initially, she planned to discuss her reinstatement at Queen Group with her brother. Instead, she overheard shocking news: Lucian was actively pursuing Roxanne. This implied a deeper reason for their meetingsโ€”meetings she'd witnessed firsthand. Jonathan's comments confirmed Roxanne's lack of consent, and Lucian's apparent concern over her interactions with Jack.

Frieda's displeasure deepened. While she harbored negative feelings toward Roxanne, she was stunned to learn of her brother's collaboration with Lucian in courting her. Did Jonathan forget Lucian's engagement?

Footsteps approached. Frieda quickly retreated, feigning a casual arrival as Lucian emerged from the office. She greeted him with a smile, "Lucian! What brings you here?"

He responded with a cold nod and departed. His coldness angered Frieda. She and Lucian had grown up together alongside Jonathan, yet his treatment of her differed greatly from his treatment of her brother. She felt ignored since Roxanne's arrival.

"It's all because of Roxanne, that bitch!" she seethed.

Suddenly, Jonathan's voice cut through her anger, "Why are you daydreaming by the doorway?"

Startled, Frieda masked her rage with a smile and entered the office. "Why did you suddenly decide to come to the office?" Jonathan asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Jonathan, I've been stuck at home too long. When can I return to work?" she replied sweetly.

He frowned. "I have no say in that. You should speak with Grandpa." Even if he could, he wouldn't allow her immediate return. Frieda's past behavior, and the risk of her using her position to target Roxanne, concerned him. Such actions would inevitably antagonize Lucian.

Her forced smile vanished, revealing her anger. "You're barring my return because you're worried I'll target Roxanne, aren't you?"

Jonathan's frown deepened in response to her perceptive observation. He remained silent, aware that allowing her return risked a repeat of the previous incident.

"You're all defending that bitch! Even Grandpa is in on this!" she exclaimed angrily. Then, recalling her eavesdropping, her expression turned cold. "You're even helping Lucian woo her! Have you forgotten that Aubree is his fiancรฉe?"

Jonathan, surprised by her knowledge of his conversation with Lucian, looked grim. "You shouldn't interfere in the Farwell and Pearson families' affairs. Who Lucian chooses is none of our concern. I suggest you stop acting so foolishly!"
