Chapter 873: Listen To You
Aubree's phone vibrated twice during their conversation. Both women looked at the phone simultaneously. Aubree glanced at it, recognizing the private investigator's latest photos.
A grim expression crossed her face. Except for yesterday's, all the photos depicted Roxanne and Lucian together, their intimacy growing increasingly apparent. She was weary of seeing them. A frown creased her brow as she opened the message.
"What's wrong? Who texted you?" Gina asked, but seeing Aubree's absorbed expression, she craned her neck and saw the photos. "Isn't that... the son of the Damaris family?" Numerous thoughts flooded her mind. After a pause, she asked dubiously, "Are those internet discussions from a while ago real? Did Roxanne really use Jack to join the Damaris family's project? If something's going on between them, there's no way Lucianโฆ" Gina remained bewildered.
Aubree offered a mocking smile. "Even you think the rumors are true. Perhaps these photos will serve a purpose." At the very least, it would influence Sonya as she intended.
"What do you mean? That Damaris family member and herโฆ" Gina pressed for more information. "If Roxanne is seeing Jack, she can't marry into the Farwell family with Sonya's knowledge. It doesn't matter if Lucian likes Roxanne."
Aubree narrowed her eyes coldly. "Does it matter if it's true or false? It's true if the key person believes it." She swiftly switched her SIM card and sent the photos to Sonya.
Gina watched, freezing for a moment before a relieved smile spread across her face. "I know my daughter won't give up easily, but I didn't expect this. I'm curious about Sonya's reaction."
Meanwhile, at the Farwell residence, Sonya felt for Aubree. She'd been trying for years to convince her son to propose, to no avail. Roxanne, she felt, had been toying with Lucian's affections. As a woman, Sonya empathized with Aubree's sacrifices.
Elias descended the stairs, preparing to leave for the company, when he noticed his wife's troubled expression. Sonya approached him. "You're heading to the company?"
Elias nodded indifferently. After a moment's hesitation, Sonya asked gently, "I don't think we can delay Lucian's marriage to Aubree any longer. Why don't you speak to him? He should listen to you."
Elias had anticipated his wife's distress. She'd carried this burden for days. He took her hand, murmuring, "Let him do what he wants."
