Chapter 876: What I Should Do

Before Roxanne could exit the car, she saw Colby waiting at the research institute's entrance. She was surprised; it was the weekend, and no one, including Colby, should be working. There wasn't much for him to do, and she hadn't asked him to come despite needing to move medicinal herbs and equipment. What was he doing there?

"Mr. Damaris," Colby greeted Jack politely before turning to Roxanne. "Dr. Jarvis."

Roxanne sensed something was amiss but dismissed it as overthinking. She smiled and replied, "Dr. Galloway."

Colby nodded. "There's nothing much to do at the institute today, so why are you..." Roxanne began to ask.

Colby glanced at them, a hint of disappointment and frustration in his voice. "If there's nothing much to do, then what are you two doing here?"

Roxanne froze. Was she imagining things? Why did Colby sound as if she'd abandoned him? She felt guilty.

"I'm sorry. I should have informed you. But I thought we could manage, so I didn't want to trouble you."

Colby laughed nonchalantly. "I was just joking. I was bored today, so I came to take a look. I didn't expect you guys to come too," he said, glancing calmly at Jack.

Jack frowned upon meeting Colby's gaze.

"Is there anything I can help with?" Colby offered.

After glancing at Jack, Roxanne replied, "If it's alright with you, you can help us move the medicinal herbs. I feel more assured with you here." She trusted Colby most among the institute's employees, having worked with him the longest.

Colby nodded with a smile. The three of them, along with Jack's assistant, quickly began working.

"Are these medicinal herbs from Herbscape Group?" Colby asked while moving the herbs.

Roxanne's expression changed at the mention of Herbscape Group; she thought of Lucian.

Jack, beside her, nodded. "Fortunately, Ms. Jarvis is meticulous. I checked, and I believe she's brought all the necessary medicinal herbs and equipment."

Roxanne snapped back to attention, pursing her lips. "It's what I should do."

Jack smiled understandingly.

Witnessing their easy rapport, Colby felt a surge of jealousy, his gaze darkening. Quelling it, he continued nonchalantly, "I wonder how Herbscape Group will develop in the future. I remember they almost got acquired by Farwell Group. Their only way out seemed to be Farwell's takeover, but with the recent scandal, I wonder if Farwell is still willing."

Roxanne's heart skipped a beat. If Farwell acquired Herbscape Group, then Farwell must be behind the scandal. The thought filled her with guilt.
