Chapter 946: Panicking

Hearing Lucian's suggestion, Roxanne was almost convinced but remained hesitant. After all, he wasn't in the medical industry and couldn't identify many medicinal herbs. Furthermore, she needed the exact dosage; an incorrect amount would have dire consequences.

Lucian, already in his car, started the engine. "I'm going to the research institute now. I'll call when I arrive, so think about which herbs you need." He hung up without waiting for a response and called Cayden.

"Mr. Farwell, where are you? The meeting..." Cayden's headache intensified as Lucian left the waiting executives. Lucian's order followed: "Something else came up; the meeting is adjourned. They can leave." Cayden hastily agreed and relayed the message. Lucian then sped toward the research institute.

Roxanne stared at her smartwatch, dazed. She knew there was no other option, but then realized the institute might be empty—it was the weekend. Lucian might not even gain entry. She immediately called Colby.

She didn't wait for a greeting. "Dr. Galloway, where are you?"

Confusion crossed Colby's face. Roxanne calling at this hour... judging by her tone, did she realize I was behind the fire? Wariness edged his voice. "I'm at home. What is this about?"

"Could you go to the research institute and open the door for Mr. Farwell? I need his help to get some medicinal herbs," Roxanne explained.

Colby relaxed slightly but remained cautious. "Got it. I'll be there right away." He left immediately.

I don't understand why Lucian needs to go in person. Roxanne must have discovered something about the fire and sent him to investigate under the guise of needing herbs. This thought spurred him to greater speed. I can't let Lucian find out what I did!

Twenty minutes later, Colby arrived at the research institute. A Bentley was parked outside, and Lucian, in a grey shirt, was approaching the entrance. Colby's heart sank. He quickly exited his car and called out, "Mr. Farwell!"

Lucian stopped. Colby hurried over. "Dr. Jarvis called, asking me to open the door for you." He watched Lucian's reaction. Lucian frowned, his usual serious expression intensified. Roxanne's anxiety implied Benny and Essie were in grave danger; even Lucian seemed flustered. Colby, despite his growing curiosity, remained respectful.

"What herbs does Dr. Jarvis need? I can help you get them," he offered.

Lucian glanced at Colby, seemingly noticing him for the first time. Colby forced calm as their eyes met, anticipating a response, but Lucian quickly looked away.
