It was almost nine o'clock. The Trade City Center was only just beginning to attract business investment. Because Scarlett was an amateur in the field, she had embarked on a hiring spree. Currently, a conference was underway at company headquarters to discuss the investment project's follow-up process.
She paused the meeting when James called. "I'm still at the company. Anything, James?"
James said, "I have a friend who's unemployed. Can you arrange a position for her?"
"Where are you, James? I'll have someone pick you up. I'm in a meeting, so I can't leave."
"No need. I'll take a taxi."
He hung up.
Xara gazed longingly at James. As he hung up, she asked, "James, who did you just call?" James gave her a mysterious grin. "Let's go. We'll take a taxi to the Trade City Center. Don't tell anyone about this. Keep a low profile, especially around Thea."
"Got it," Xara nodded excitedly.
James called a taxi to the Trade City Center.
Newly constructed and located in downtown Cansington, its central region was filled with skyscrapers. The region comprised numerous pedestrian, food, commercial, antique, and clothing streets. Villas and luxury residential areas were also nearby. All this constituted the trade center of a new era.
In the heart of the region stood a skyscraper—the Transgenerational Tower, a 180-story building, the tallest in the trade center. To the outside world, it was also known as the Transgenerational Financial Center.
Upon exiting the taxi, Xara stared at the skyscraper, dazed.
"James, this is the Transgenerational Center. It will soon become the country's busiest area, attracting all large conglomerates. They haven't even set up shop yet. Why did you bring me here to look for a job?"
Her expression changed. She gasped. "Wait. Are you the owner of the newly established Transgenerational Group and the Transgenerational Financial Center?" James smiled slightly and said nothing. He had secretly bought this new city, but had never been there.
He gazed at the 180-story skyscraper and the shining white words atop the tower—Transgenerational Tower. "Let's go." He took Xara with him. After receiving James' call, Scarlett ended the meeting, brought the high-ranking officials of the Transgenerational Group to the ground floor, and waited patiently for his arrival.
A dozen men gathered outside the Transgenerational Tower. These were high-earning business elites Scarlett had hired from overseas.
"Soon, the chairman of the Transgenerational Group will be here for an inspection. Be careful not to offend him," she reminded them.
"Yes."
They eagerly anticipated meeting the mysterious owner of the Transgenerational Group, who had purchased an entire city. Who was this trillionaire? Who possessed such courage and vigor? Soon, they would meet the man who had been the talk of the town. They were both nervous and excited.
Then, a man and a woman approached. The man wore ordinary clothes and carried a suitcase. The woman was attractive. Seeing the dozen professionally dressed elites outside the tower, Xara was uncertain. Were they really at Transgenerational Group?
"He's here. The chairman is here," Scarlett announced.
"Welcome, chairman!" a booming voice resonated. The dozen business elites fixed their gaze on James. Was he the man who bought Transgenerational New City? Meanwhile, Xara was dumbfounded. Chairman? James had bought Transgenerational New City?
