Listen to this chapter:

Though this was a suburban area, local farmers still resided there. It was Mid-Autumn Festival, and families were gathering for reunions. That morning, however, tens of thousands of armed men swarmed the area, appalling the locals, who remained safely indoors. Some were even frightened into evacuating. Black-vested men, armed and with menacing expressions, stood on both sides of the road. James and Henry approached them.

The men had orders not to harm them—for now.

Soon, James arrived at the Cadens' cemetery. It was teeming with people. A few coffins lay in freshly dug graves on a nearby slope, adorned with flowers. Outside the cemetery, on an empty plot of land, stood the leaders of the Great Four: Hector Xavier, Melvin Fraiser, Kelvin Wilson, and Drake Zimmerman.

Even Dawson, Nine Fingers, and various underworld forces from Cansington were present, having brought reinforcements. Their combined numbers exceeded ten thousand.

On the ground lay a seventy-year-old man and a twenty-year-old woman, both bound. The man was treated like a dead dog; the woman's hair was disheveled, her white dress mud-splattered, and her expression disconcerted. James and Henry walked into their midst. Melvin laughed. "Haha, you actually came."

Kelvin gestured to the surrounding throng. "Remnants of the Cadens, do you not see your powerlessness? Or are you simply here to die?" Drake stepped forward and yelled, "I was the one who bound the Cadens and burned down their villa ten years ago. Thea Callahan saved you, but today, your doom is certain, no matter how strong you are."

Tap, tap, tap. The sound of boots on the ground.

James stopped before the crowd. Dawson stomped on the bound man. "Argh!" the man screamed in pain.

Dawson, squinting at the masked James, said, "I, too, was unaware a Caden had evaded us. After the destruction of the Cadens, he built this cemetery and buried them here."

James looked at the bound man. "M-Mr. Quinn?" He shivered. Newton Quinn, the Cadens' butler, had survived the fire because he was not in Cansington at the time. According to Henry's information, Quinn had left Cansington years ago.

James turned to Henry. Henry, sensing his displeasure, hurriedly explained, "I'm sorry, James. This is my fault. The information I gave you stated he'd left Cansington years ago. I didn't think they'd find him."

James was exasperated. How could Henry have missed such a crucial detail? He also blamed himself for neglecting Mr. Quinn, preoccupied as he was with Thea.

James clenched his fist and stepped forward.

"Halt!" Dawson pulled out a firearm, pointing it at Newton. "Kid, one step closer, and I'll blow his brains out. Now, remove your mask."

Multiple voices echoed, "Remove it! I'm curious to see who this mysterious fella is. You're just trying to mess with us! Did you not hear what Dawson said? Take it off, now!"
