James left Common Clinic, more work remaining. His return to Cansington had two purposes: repaying a kindness and exacting revenge.
Though the Xaviers, one of the Great Four families, had been eliminated and the heads of the other three families were dead, the Cadens' home then held far more people than the Xavier household. Many important members of the Great Four were present. Everyone at the Cadens' villa had to die. The Frasiers, another of Cansington's Great Four, possessed countless businesses and assets worth tens of billions.
Their family villa was luxurious and grand, yet lacked its former vibrancy. In the hall, a coffin sat surrounded by three generations of kneeling Frasiers and a priest. Several families friendly with the Cadens attended the funeral of Yves Frasier, the family head.
Meanwhile, on the villa's second floor, a large gathering had convened. Yves' eldest son, Melvin Frasier, was at the head. Upon his father's death, Melvin inherited the family headship. Several other sons and daughters were also present, discussing Yves' burial arrangements.
Suddenly, a young man in funeral attire shouted, "Dad! We have a problem! A very big problem!"
Melvin stood abruptly, scolding, "What's with your manners? Why the panic?"
"Dad, look!" The son pointed to the staircase.
Everyone turned. Thump! Many fell to the ground in fear. A figure entered, clad in a black coat and a ghost mask.
Whispers arose: "Isn't this the man who killed Warren and Trent Xavier? Wasn't the murderer shot? Why is he here?!"
James approached. The family instinctively recoiled.
"Those who were at the Cadens' villa ten years ago, those who persecuted the Cadens and burned their villago to the Cadens' family cemetery and kneel for ten days. Use your deaths to atone for your sins; otherwise, the rest of the Frasier family will not be spared," James declared, sitting on a sofa and speaking indifferently.
He stood and left, the family watching in terror. At the door, he paused. Their fear intensified.
"Don't forget. Ten days, starting tomorrow morning. You are not allowed to rise. Disobey, and no one in the Frasier family will be spared," James thundered, his voice echoing with chilling effect. Only after he left did the Frasiers react.
Melvin collapsed onto the sofa, his face pale. He muttered, "I should have known! The person who killed Warren and Trent was the one Thea rescued from the Cadens' villa fire ten years ago. Who is he? Trent even threatened Thea to discover his identity, but failed. In the end, Trent…"
Melvin considered Trent's identity: deputy general of the Western Border, a subordinate of the Blithe King. The Western Border Patrol had supposedly shot the ghost-masked man.
"How is it possible he's here? Who is he?" Melvin pondered. "The last Cadens? Could Thea's husband, James, be the one she rescued ten years ago?" He recalled Nicholas Cadens had a son named James.
"Impossible!" Melvin shook his head. "Thea's husband is a penniless, retired soldier."
"Dad, what do we do?" his son asked.
