Xander had a history of unsavory dealings. Before he even spoke, the young man, David, accused him of causing a car accident.
"Of course I'm going to stop for a red light! You were tailgating and hit me. Now you're blaming me?"
Xander noticed David's car lacked a license plate and insurance sticker. He was immediately pleased.
"It's a new car, right? Well, there's a dent in my car. Selling this car and adding a few million more should cover it."
David's legs gave way, and he collapsed.
"I'm so sorry, sir! Please forgive me! I bought this car with all my money. I can't compensate you!"
"Why the arrogance if you're broke?" Xander kicked David to the ground and began beating him.
"Don't hit him!" Alyssa intervened, grabbing Xander.
Xander slapped Alyssa to the ground. David, ignoring the pain, knelt and begged for mercy.
Gladys, furious, slapped David.
"Trash! I shouldn't have bought you that car!"
She then turned to the middle-aged, chubby Xander, who looked displeased.
"Sir, I have five thousand on my card. Is that enough?" Gladys pleaded.
"Five thousand? Do you know who I am? Do you think that's acceptable?" Xander's expression hardened.
"Then how much?" Gladys asked cautiously.
"I said sell the car and add five million. You could afford a two-million-dollar car; you must have resources. Get the money quickly, or face the consequences…"
Xander maintained a low profile, unsure of the others' backgrounds. He avoided trouble, having abandoned his previous life of crime. He wanted to stay out of trouble.
He got into his car and made a call.
"I'm on Sky Flower Road. Come and help me deal with this brat."
The accident had caused a traffic jam at the intersection. Police arrived, took photos, and directed the drivers to move their cars.
David and Alyssa knelt, begging for mercy, but Xander remained unmoved. A van arrived, and several men approached Xander.
"Boss."
Xander pointed at the still-kneeling David. "Take him away."
"Alright."
The men dragged David to the van. Xander then addressed Benjamin, Gladys, Thea, and Alyssa.
"Before midnight, bring eight million to the Prosperous Dynasty to ransom him, or collect his body."
Alyssa sobbed. Gladys was distraught. Thea frantically called James.
James, cooking dinner, answered Thea's call.
"Thea, are you coming home soon? Dinner's almost ready."
"James, something terrible happened. David's in trouble."
"What happened?"
"We bought a car, and my brother rear-ended a forty-million-dollar Maybach. We didn't have insurance. David was beaten and taken away. What do we do?"
"Where are you? I'm coming."
"Sky Flower Road."
"Don't worry. I'm on my way."
James turned off the stove and rushed to Sky Flower Road.
