Chapter 197
When Jarrett relayed the news, Kieran couldnโt believe it. Had something like that happened? Kieran couldnโt recall a thing. He hadnโt paid much attention to Freya in the past, so he wouldnโt bother with anything she did for him. Even as these words came out of Jarrettโs mouth, Kieran found it hard to believe that he had been so harsh to Freya before and had gone to such extremes.
โMr. Sutton, itโs only natural for Ms. Dawson to be upset,โ Jarrett said. No one wants the person theyโre involved with to dismiss their hard work. And Freya was no different. After all, even Jarrett knew Freya skipped dinner, yet her fiancรฉ had no clue.
Frowning, Kieran suddenly lost his appetite. Seeing Kieran stand up, Jarrett was about to follow when Kieran said, โLetโs postpone tonightโs work. You can go ahead.โ
โYes, Mr. Sutton,โ Jarrett responded.
Kieran went upstairs. There, he found Freya in the room, casually directing the renovation team and taking matters into her own hands by donning a cap and joining in. She didnโt look anything like a pampered heiress. Not the least bit demure or reserved.
Freya turned and saw Kieran at the door, her brows furrowing slightly, clearly displeased. โWhat is this nuisance doing here again?โ she thought.
โMr. Sutton, itโs messy here. Maybe you should leave. Weโll try to keep the noise down,โ the lead contractor said, not wanting Kieran to get angry and send them away. After all, with Kieranโs status, angering him could mean the end of their business.
Freya continued painting as if Kieran wasnโt there. But surprisingly, Kieran stepped into the room. Freyaโs paint ended up splattering all over Kieranโs fancy handmade shoes, but he didnโt give a hoot.
โCome down,โ Kieran said.
โWhat for?โ Freya asked from the ladder. Kieranโs voice carried an authoritative tone. Seeing Kieran wasnโt backing down, Freya begrudgingly prepared to descend. As she slipped, Kieran reached out to catch her, but the next moment, Freya steadied herself on the ladder. Stunned, she looked at Kieranโs outstretched hands and asked, โWhat are you doing?โ Kieranโs face darkened before he withdrew his hands. Freya then smoothly climbed down from the ladder.
โCome here,โ Kieran said, his tone firm as he walked toward the door, and Freya reluctantly followed. When they reached downstairs, Kieran stopped. Freya hesitated, then said, โKieran, what are youโฆโ
Before she could finish, Kieran suddenly reached out and guided her into a chair. The move was so sudden that Freya hadnโt even realized what happened. She glanced at the table and saw several dishes laid out, asking, โWhat are you doing?โ
โSit down and eat,โ Kieran replied.
Freya frowned. โI donโt eat dinner.โ
โHave you ever heard the saying?โ Kieran asked.
Freya was confused.
โEat well in the morning, eat full at noon, and eat less at night,โ Kieran stated.
