Chapter 340

Freyaโ€™s patience had worn thin facing another round of persuasion from the schoolโ€™s guidance counselor. She responded coldly, โ€œLook, if I were involved in a fight, then by all means, let the principal call the cops on me. But if this is all about the schoolโ€™s graduation rates, Iโ€™m sorry, but thatโ€™s the schoolโ€™s problem. Why should I bear the consequences?โ€

โ€œYouโ€ฆyouโ€ฆโ€ Before Sampson could finish, Freya had ended the call.

In her view, the call was pointless from the start. Kieran had probably intimidated the principal, or perhaps ordered the principal to deal with her in case it would upset Eloise. That was nothing new to Freya; she had seen it all before. Especially since Ronan had been away for several days dealing with business at the W Group, the principal probably felt no one would stand up for Freya now that Kieran had dumped her.

At that moment, Lunaโ€™s call came through. Freya answered, only to hear an anxious voice on the other end. โ€œFreya, did you see our schoolโ€™s group chat? You have to look!โ€

Freya checked her phone and found it bombarded with hundreds of unread messages from various group chats and a flood of friend requests, all packed with insults. Some called her a tramp. Others accused her of playing both sides. And some claimed she used her woes to seduce men. Friend requests and insults came in droves.

The students had even shared a video in the chatโ€”blurred and hard to see clearlyโ€”a surveillance clip from the library showing Freya grabbing Jenny, though it wasโ€ฆ

Student 1: [I was in the library yesterday. I saw Freya start a fight with my own eyes!] Student 2: [Dumped and still acting so high and mighty, all to make Eloise look bad!] Student 3: [Who does she think she is? She dropped out to chase after a guy, and when that failed, she expected to return and throw her weight around. Disgusting!]

Messages kept pouring in, with some even tagging her directly. Many shared the news on social media, making Freya Summit Universityโ€™s shame overnight.

โ€œTheyโ€™ve gone too far!โ€ When Luna arrived at Freyaโ€™s apartment, she was so furious she threw a cushion on the floor, exclaiming, โ€œI miss one day of school, and this is how they smear you! Eloise used to seem reasonable, and now she lets the student council do this, huh? Is this deliberate?โ€

Freya slumped on the couch and said, โ€œItโ€™s deliberate. They edited the video to make me look like the aggressor, like some crazy woman starting trouble. Everyone believes itโ€™s my fault, and if I canโ€™t clear my name, Iโ€™ll be branded for life.โ€

โ€œThis kind of news spreads fast in our circles. If it goes down like this, Freya, youโ€™re in danger.โ€

Being expelled would be the least of her worries. She might end up at the police station.

Freyaโ€™s gaze darkened. She lived by a simple rule, โ€œDonโ€™t start none, wonโ€™t be none.โ€ But they had chosen to come at her with such tactics, trying to ensure she couldnโ€™t recover.

Fine. Freya had hoped to graduate without making waves, so she hadnโ€™t confronted Jenny the day before. But since they wanted to escalate things, they couldnโ€™t blame her for what came next.

After Luna left that afternoon, Freya pulled herself together and headed to W Group. Everyone there was top talent poached from the Beckett Group. Freya paid them double what they used to earn, so they were all the more dedicated.
