The Amazing Son-in-Law: Chapters 651-655
Chapter 651
In the car, Jasmine drove, speaking to Charlie Wade: “Master Wade, Grandpa’s been talking about you for days. He worried you wouldn’t attend his birthday banquet. He’ll be thrilled to see you!”
Charlie Wade smiled slightly. “Since I promised, why would I break my promise?”
Jasmine nodded happily. “I think he most wants to meet you today.” She sighed. “I don’t know what’s gotten into him. He’s talked about you constantly since seeing Dr. Simmons a few days ago. He confided that his greatest wish is to see you at his banquet.”
Charlie Wade was stunned, then chuckled. He knew why Lord Moore wanted to see him: the changes in Anthony’s appearance, the Rejuvenating Pill’s effects. Lord Moore clearly craved a pill!
Indeed, Lord Moore wasn’t alone in his desire. Charlie Wade knew many elderly people would be tempted by the Rejuvenating Pill.
After receiving the invitation, Charlie Wade considered a gift. He decided Lord Moore needed neither gifts nor money; a Rejuvenating Pill would suffice. The pill wasn’t magical; its most expensive ingredient was three-hundred-year-old purple ginseng. However, Liam, the illegitimate Weaver son, had gifted him a thousand-year-old snow-white ginseng. Using that would create a far superior medicine. Giving Lord Moore the Rejuvenating Pill was a simple favor with minimal cost—killing two birds with one stone.
Jasmine said, “Master Wade, Grandpa invited many of your friends. You can catch up later.”
“Oh?” Charlie Wade smiled. “Who?”
“Doris, Emgrand Group’s vice-chairman. You have a good relationship with her, right?”
Charlie Wade nodded. “Yes.”
Jasmine smiled. “She’s coming. And the heads of the Quinton and White families—they’re also close to you, right?”
Charlie Wade smiled. “Yes.”
“Grandpa also invited Liam, chairman of Weaver Pharmaceutical. I heard you supported him?”
Charlie Wade nodded. “Liam was an unwelcome illegitimate child. Since his father and half-brother offended me, I supported him instead.”
Jasmine’s lips pursed. “Master Wade, I heard you sent the Weavers to Mount Golmin to dig ginseng?”
“Yes,” Charlie Wade replied. “Jordan looked down on Mount Golmin, so I sent him there to reflect.”
Jasmine smiled. “I heard their life is miserable. They dig for ginseng for food. Recently, heavy snow prevented them from going out, so they stole a chicken and were beaten.”
Charlie Wade was curious. “Why are you so interested? I didn’t know about this.”
Jasmine blushed. “I felt they deserved it, so I inquired.”
Charlie Wade smiled. “Are you also following the coal miners in Erith?”
Jasmine smiled. “Yes! They’re miserable—twelve-hour days, terrible conditions, little food. I hear they cry at night…”
Chapter 652
Charlie Wade smiled. “This is the price they pay for harming others.”
“Yes!” Jasmine agreed. “They’re responsible for their actions!”
They arrived at the Moore family mansion. Zeke, Graham, Albert, Liam, and Doris waited in the courtyard. As Charlie Wade exited, they surrounded him and Jasmine.
Jasmine said, “Master Wade, let me open the door.”
Charlie Wade replied, “No need to be so polite. I can get out myself.”
Jasmine insisted, “No! You’re our most distinguished guest! Grandpa would scold me otherwise!” She opened the door for him.
Charlie Wade smiled helplessly. He thought she was overreacting, but Jasmine felt the etiquette was essential, knowing her grandfather’s regard for Charlie Wade.
Meanwhile, Sean, on the second-floor terrace, watched. He’d been waiting, hoping Jasmine’s guest would be an old person, eliminating a potential love rival. He was shocked to see Jasmine personally greet a young man, even opening his car door!
He wondered why Jasmine respected this man so much. Was this her love interest? Lord Moore’s ideal grandson-in-law? It had to be him!
Sean’s expression darkened with anger. Charlie Wade, though handsome, was plainly dressed. Sean estimated his clothes cost a few thousand dollars—less than a single pair of his socks. This man seemed like a nobody. Yet, Jasmine was clearly smitten!
Sean clenched his fists, knuckles white, slamming his fist on the railing. “Damn it! Who is this trash?! He’ll pay for trying to steal my woman!”
Chapter 653
Sean’s outburst drew curious glances. He glared, shouting, “What are you looking at? Get lost!” The guests quickly averted their gaze. Sean gestured for Cain.
Cain approached eagerly. “Young Master Webb, what do you need?”
Sean pointed to Charlie Wade. “Check that guy’s identity. I want to know who he is!”
Cain was shocked to recognize Charlie Wade—the reason his son, Marcus, had “pathetic jerk” carved on his forehead by Albert. Charlie Wade was the culprit!
Cain gritted his teeth. “I know him. It’s Charlie Wade.”
Sean asked coldly, “Who is he? His background? He’s dead for touching my girl!”
Cain saw his chance for revenge. “He’s a loser who married into the Wilson family. They’re nearly bankrupt.”
Sean frowned. “A son-in-law?”
Cain confirmed, “Yes. His wife is Claire Wilson. He’s a househusband—cooking, cleaning, laundry. He’s from poverty, a deadbeat loser. Everyone in Aurous Hill knows it!”
Coldness flashed in Sean’s eyes. He’d suspected Jasmine’s admirer was from a prestigious family, but this was a deadbeat loser and a married man! How could Jasmine prefer him to Sean, a wealthy young master?
Chapter 654
Jasmine’s attentiveness to Charlie Wade, her coldness towards Sean, was insulting. Sean commanded Cain, “Humiliate Charlie Wade in front of Jasmine! Teach him a lesson! Make him leave like a defeated dog!”
Cain grinned, seeing his chance for revenge. He knew Charlie Wade had fooled many VIPs with feng shui tricks, but the Webb family could still get revenge. This was a chance to please Sean and get revenge!
Zeke, Graham, Albert, Liam, and Doris surrounded Charlie Wade respectfully. Aurora, dressed elegantly, was also present, surprising Charlie Wade with her mature appearance. Liam asked Charlie Wade to inspect Weaver Pharmaceutical, but Charlie Wade declined.
Then, Cain’s voice cut through the crowd, “Damn, why are all these big shots fawning over this deadbeat loser? Are you all blind, or just craving shit?”
Chapter 655
Cain’s mockery shocked everyone. Albert was furious, threatening Cain. Cain retorted, defiantly pointing at Charlie Wade, insulting him and questioning the others' judgment.
Charlie Wade recognized Cain as Marcus’s father. He calmly stopped the others from retaliating. “Everyone, it’s Lord Moore’s birthday. Don’t do anything foolish.” He then turned to Cain, “I wondered what kind of idiot raised Marcus. Now I know.”
He continued, “Learn from your son. Keep a low profile. Your forehead’s too wrinkled for carving.”
Cain raged, threatening to carve “pathetic jerk” onto Charlie Wade’s forehead unless he knelt. He boasted about the Webb family’s power.
Charlie Wade smirked. “What makes you think you can kill me?”
Cain mentioned Albert, but Charlie Wade countered, “Your master is a coward. What if the dog is killed?”
Cain sneered, calling Charlie Wade a scammer. He turned to Jasmine, warning her about her reputation if she continued to associate with a married loser.
Jasmine’s face was contemptuous. She wouldn’t let Cain dictate her feelings. She remained calm, knowing anger would confirm his words. She asked who invited Cain, as he wasn’t on the guest list.
