The Amazing Son-in-Law Chapter 846

Elaine Ma knew this was a threat. As long as she ate, even if she merely reached for her food, she'd likely suffer.

So she cried and pleaded, โ€œSister, you beat and scolded me yesterday. Please be merciful and forgive meโ€ฆโ€

Gena raised her eyebrows and asked, โ€œI can spare you, but who can bring my dead mother back to life? Do you know how miserable she was, drinking pesticide and finally lying breathless and suffocating in a hospital bed?โ€

Elaine Ma burst into tears. โ€œSister, I know youโ€™re a filial daughter, but I havenโ€™t harmed your motherโ€ฆโ€

Gena said angrily, โ€œYou still dare to talk nonsense? My mother was killed by an unfilial daughter-in-law! I feel sick when I see someone like you! You should be glad this isnโ€™t ancient society; otherwise, Iโ€™d have you chopped up!โ€

Lady Wilson hummed triumphantly, โ€œGena, youโ€™re so right! In ancient times, this woman would have been drowned in a pig cageโ€”a bamboo cage weighted down with rocks and thrown into a river!โ€

Terrified, Elaine Ma remained silent, not daring to eat. She stood before Gena, head bowed, like a child who had misbehaved.

Gena finished her porridge, using the last piece of steamed bread to wipe the bowl clean, then ate the remaining bits in one bite. Afterwards, she declared intently, โ€œOh, I donโ€™t seem to be full.โ€

A female prisoner pointed to a plastic basket. โ€œSister Gena, isnโ€™t there another portion in there? You can eat that too!โ€

Gena smiled at Elaine Ma, then grinned. โ€œOh, Elaine Ma, I have breakfast for you. Are you okay with that?โ€

Elaine Ma dared not speak, only nodding vigorously.

Gena smiled. โ€œIโ€™m fine. I exercise a lot and have a big appetite. Beating you yesterday took a lot of energy, so I need to replenish myself today.โ€

She walked to the basket, took out a lunch box, and ate, deliberately making loud slurping noises to torment Elaine Ma, whose stomach began to churn.

Gena finished the steamed buns and about a third of the porridge, then deliberately knocked the lunch box to the floor, spilling the porridge.

Gena sighed, annoyed. โ€œWhy did it spill? What a wasteโ€ฆโ€

She waved to Elaine Ma. โ€œGo get a mop and clean this up.โ€

Elaine Ma, who had never appreciated food, was distressed by the wasted porridge. Seeing her staring at it, Gena smiled. โ€œElaine Ma, if youโ€™re hungry, you can kneel and lick it up.โ€

Elaine Ma felt wronged and despairing. Kneeling to lick porridge from a dirty floor countless people had walked on? No way!

โ€œIโ€™ll mop it up,โ€ she said hastily.

Gena sneered. โ€œWhatever. But youโ€™ll lick it up sooner or later. Weโ€™ll just wait and see!โ€

The Amazing Son-in-Law Chapter 847

A little after eight oโ€™clock, Charlie Wade drove, taking Jacob Wilson to the airport. Jacob couldnโ€™t wait; his flight was still more than two hours away. He hurriedly asked Charlie, โ€œGood son-in-law, where can I buy flowers? I want to buy roses.โ€

Charlie Wade said, โ€œDad, youโ€™re meeting him and his son. Roses might not be appropriate.โ€

Jacob Wilson considered this, nodding. โ€œYouโ€™re right. Just some ordinary flowers then.โ€

Charlie Wade said, โ€œI know a flower shop nearby. Letโ€™s go.โ€

At the shop, Charlie Wade spent five hundred dollars on a bouquet symbolizing friendship.

Holding the bouquet, Jacob Wilson beamed. โ€œThis floristโ€™s work is impressive! Matilda will love this!โ€

Charlie Wade smiled, thinking his father-in-law was experiencing a second spring. If Matilda felt the same, they might get together. He felt a little sympathy for the old man though. He couldnโ€™t let Elaine Ma disappear, and once she's released, Jacobโ€™s peaceful days would end. Elaine Ma's reaction to Matildaโ€™s return would likely cause further unhappiness.

He didnโ€™t tell his father this. Let him enjoy his freedom before Elaine Ma's release.

Jacob Wilson asked, โ€œOh yes, Charlie Wade, did you book a place at the Shangri-La?โ€

โ€œItโ€™s booked,โ€ Charlie Wade nodded. โ€œDonโ€™t worry, Iโ€™ll take care of you and Matilda today.โ€

โ€œThatโ€™s good!โ€ Jacob Wilson breathed a sigh of relief, examining his flowers. He sniffed a rose. โ€œThis scent! So refreshing!โ€ He hummed an old song, โ€œRose, rose, I love you; rose, rose, my love is deepโ€ฆโ€

Charlie Wade shook his head, thinking of his own recent depression.

At the airport, they waited in the arrival hall. Jacob Wilson scanned the arrival board, finally finding Matildaโ€™s flight. The flight was due at 10:20, with an estimated arrival time of around 11:00, allowing for customs.

Jacob Wilson, excited, didnโ€™t mind the wait. Five minutes before eleven, a group of people emerged. Jacob Wilson, holding his flowers, watched eagerly. He spotted a middle-aged woman in black, waving excitedly, โ€œMatilda!โ€

The woman was surprised. โ€œOh my God, Jacob Wilson!โ€ She hurried towards him.

Charlie Wade, curious to see Jacobโ€™s first love, was shocked. Matilda, also 48, looked far younger. Tall, slender, with well-maintained skin, she wore a long black dress, appearing regal.

The Amazing Son-in-Law Chapter 848

Her appearance was impeccableโ€”beautiful, elegant, and possessing the intellectual air of a previous generation. She was even more beautiful than actress Kelly Hu! Matilda, three years younger than Kelly Hu, appeared six or seven years younger still! She looked like a woman in her thirties, not nearly fifty.

Charlie Wade was stunned. He hadnโ€™t expected such an impeccable beauty. He imagined she must have been breathtaking in her youth!

Charlie Wade envied Jacob Wilson, whoโ€™d lost such a woman because of Elaine Maโ€”a monumental loss!

Jacob Wilson felt even more sympathy for himself. Why did time seem to pass Matilda by? Why was she still so stunning after twenty years?

Matilda smiled gently, โ€œJacob Wilson, I didnโ€™t expect to see you after all these years!โ€

Jacob Wilson, nervous, stammered, โ€œYes, Matilda, I didnโ€™t expectโ€ฆ so many years!โ€

Charlie Wade reminded him, โ€œDad, give her the flowers!โ€

Jacob Wilson, handing the flowers, said nervously, โ€œMatilda, theseโ€ฆ these flowers are for you. Welcome back to Aurous Hill!โ€

Matilda took the flowers, gazing at Jacob Wilson. โ€œJacob Wilson, thank you!โ€

Jacob Wilson, unsure where to put his hands, fidgeted nervously.

A tall, handsome blond young man approached, carrying luggage. He looked like a mix of Asian and European features. He smiled, โ€œMom, is this your college classmate?โ€

Matilda introduced him. โ€œJacob Wilson, this is my son, Paul.โ€

Jacob Wilson shook Paulโ€™s hand. โ€œPaul, hello! Your Chinese is excellent!โ€

Paul laughed. โ€œUncle, youโ€™re too kind. Iโ€™m an American citizen, but my mother taught me Chinese from a young age.โ€

Jacob Wilson introduced Charlie Wade. โ€œMatilda, Paul, this is my son-in-law, Charlie Wade.โ€

Paul shook Charlie Wadeโ€™s hand. โ€œHello, Mr. Wade!โ€

The Amazing Son-in-Law Chapter 849

Paulโ€™s Chinese was impeccable. Charlie Wade was impressed. He shook Paul's hand, complimenting his fluency.

Jacob Wilson said, โ€œMatilda, Iโ€™ve booked a box at the Shangri-La Hotel. Letโ€™s have a meal, to welcome you and your son.โ€

Matilda smiled. โ€œThank you so much, Jacob Wilson, and son-in-law, for picking us up and inviting us to dinnerโ€ฆโ€

โ€œItโ€™s my pleasure!โ€ Jacob Wilson, eager to get going, said, โ€œWeโ€™re already here, letโ€™s go directly!โ€

โ€œOkay,โ€ Matilda nodded. โ€œSon, tell your driver weโ€™ll take Uncle Wilsonโ€™s car.โ€

Paul said, โ€œOkay, Mom. Iโ€™ll call the driver to send the luggage to the hotel.โ€

Jacob Wilson asked Matilda, โ€œMatilda, did you arrange a driver in China?โ€

Matilda nodded. โ€œAfter Paulโ€™s father passed away, I wanted to return to settle here. Paul didnโ€™t want to abandon his fatherโ€™s company, so he started transferring the business here six months ago.โ€

Jacob Wilson was surprised. โ€œYou transferred all the businesses to China?โ€

โ€œYes,โ€ Matilda said. โ€œBut I donโ€™t participate much; Paul handles it.โ€

Jacob Wilson felt inferior. Matildaโ€™s business success contrasted sharply with his current poverty. Would she look down on him?

Charlie Wade, noticing Jacob Wilsonโ€™s discomfort, understood his feelings but didnโ€™t comment.

Paul finished his call. โ€œMom, Uncle Wilson, Brother Charlie Wade, Iโ€™ve told the driver, letโ€™s go.โ€

โ€œOkay,โ€ Charlie Wade said.

A new Rolls-Royce Phantom pulled up. A foreigner exited, addressing Paul respectfully in English, โ€œHello, General Manager!โ€

The Amazing Son-in-Law Chapter 850

Paul nodded. The driver addressed Matilda, โ€œHello, Chairman.โ€

Matilda nodded and smiled. โ€œMike, send my luggage to Shangri-La and have it delivered to our rooms.โ€

The driver nodded. โ€œChairman, wonโ€™t you and the General Manager be riding in this car?โ€

Matilda nodded. โ€œI'll go with my old classmate. You go first.โ€

Jacob Wilson, uneasy, looked at the luxurious Rolls-Royce. He felt inferior.

He said to Matilda, โ€œMatilda, you should take this Rolls Royce. My car isnโ€™t suitable; Iโ€™m afraid youโ€™ll be uncomfortable.โ€

Matilda said seriously, โ€œJacob Wilson, do you think Iโ€™m vain?โ€

Jacob Wilson was embarrassed. โ€œMy car is just a BMW 5 Seriesโ€ฆ Iโ€™m afraid itโ€™ll be a downgrade for youโ€ฆโ€

Matilda was slightly angry. โ€œJacob Wilson, why do you care about such things? Rolls-Royce, BMW 5 Series, even a bicycleโ€”theyโ€™re all transportation! Even if you were riding a bicycle, Iโ€™d be happy to ride along. But I guess itโ€™s a bit hard for you to ride a bicycle at your age now?โ€

Jacob Wilson felt relieved. He feared Matilda wouldn't be comfortable in his BMW.

However, Paul quietly said to Matilda in English, โ€œMom, perhaps you should take this car. The BMW 5 Series is uncomfortable; Iโ€™m afraid you wonโ€™t adapt.โ€

Matilda waved her hand. โ€œWhen you see my old classmates, donโ€™t use this car. Ask if the company has a more common vehicle like a Buick GL8, a car worth two or three hundred thousand dollars. I donโ€™t want to seem distant after all these years.โ€

Paul reluctantly said, โ€œThe company doesnโ€™t have such inexpensive cars. The most common vehicles are Toyota Alphards worth over a million dollarsโ€ฆโ€

Matilda said, โ€œThen buy a car worth two or three hundred thousand dollars.โ€

Paul nodded. โ€œFine, Iโ€™ll arrange it.โ€

He told the driver, โ€œGo buy a Buick GL8.โ€

The driver was surprised. โ€œGeneral Manager, our company doesnโ€™t have such low-end cars.โ€

Paul said, โ€œItโ€™s fine; just go buy one.โ€

Charlie Wade admired Matildaโ€™s high emotional intelligence. This woman was even more captivating than any goddess. He sensed Jacob Wilson would soon fall completely for her.
