The Amazing Son-in-Law: Chapters 871-875
Chapter 871
Charlie Wade spent the afternoon pretending to search for something. He then received a call from Jacob Wilson, informing him that Matilda was returning home soon. Charlie drove home. Claire Wilson also received a call from her father and, despite her reluctance, returned home as well. Loreen, hearing of the visitors, announced she wouldn't be home for dinner, citing overtime and plans to eat out. Claire tried to persuade her to accompany them to avoid embarrassment, but Loreen insisted. Unable to force the issue, Claire told Jacob, "Dad, when your classmates arrive, please avoid mentioning me. I'm not in a good mood and don't want to talk much." Jacob understood his daughter's feelings and wouldn't pressure her. He turned to Charlie, saying, "Good son-in-law, please be more active and engaging at dinner." Charlie nodded awkwardly. The doorbell rang. Jacob excitedly rushed to the videophone, announcing, "They're here! I'll get the door." He opened the door and went to greet them.
Claire, observing her father's enthusiastic demeanor, sighed and asked Charlie, "Do you think there's something more between my dad and Matilda?" Charlie replied with a smile, "They haven't seen each other in over twenty years. You're overthinking it." Claire insisted, "But Dad seems overly excited." Charlie comforted her, "They do have a history." Claire countered, "But my dad is married to my mother, and they're not divorced! He's committed to his marriage!" Charlie responded, "It seems Dad had an extramarital affair. He just saw his first love. It's not as serious as you think." Claire sighed, "I'm just worried, that's all." Meanwhile, Matilda admired the luxurious Thompson First A05 villa in Aurouss Hill. Unfamiliar with Chinese real estate, she hadn't realized the villa's value until she arrived. Jacob had only given her the address. The luxury surprised her, contrasting with the less-than-happy reports she'd received about Jacob's recent life.
While waiting outside, Paul used his phone to research the villa's price, telling his mother, "These houses cost 80 to 100 million. Online, it says Type A villas are the largest and cost tens to hundreds of millions."

Matilda nodded, commenting, "Over a hundred million isn't cheap, but I don't understand how Jacob can afford this." Paul smiled, "You'll have to ask him." Matilda added, "Maybe he's been hiding his wealth." Paul mused, "Honestly, I think Uncle Wilson is a good person, but not someone who hides his wealth." Matilda asked, "What do you mean?" Paul explained, "It just feels odd." Matilda concluded, "Let's not dwell on it. We should be happy for him. Let's not pry." Paul agreed.
Jacob opened the villa door, excitedly greeting Matilda and Paul. Matilda exclaimed, "Jacob, your house is beautiful! This seems like the best villa area in Aurouss Hill?" Jacob modestly replied, "I don't know if it's the best. I just moved in two days ago."
As they entered, Matilda admired the exquisite décor. Jacob explained, "The villa and its décor were gifts from my son-in-law's friend." Paul was shocked, "Uncle Wilson, this villa is worth over a hundred million! Mr. Wade's friend gave him this?" Jacob confirmed, adding that they only bought furniture. Paul asked, "Did Mr. Wade earn this by practicing Feng Shui?" Jacob happily confirmed, boasting about Charlie's Feng Shui skills. Paul found it odd that a Feng Shui master would receive such an expensive gift. He concluded that Charlie Wade wasn't an ordinary person. Intrigued, Paul expressed his interest in having Charlie assess his new company's Feng Shui. Jacob readily agreed.
Chapter 873
Jacob led Matilda and Paul inside. Claire was stunned by Matilda's beauty and grace, even envying her. Matilda, in turn, was impressed by Claire's beauty. Paul was equally captivated by Claire. Jacob introduced them: "Matilda, this is my daughter, Claire." He then addressed Claire, "Claire, this is my old classmate, Matilda." Claire, worried about her father and Matilda's relationship, warmly shook Matilda's hand. Matilda sincerely complimented Claire's beauty. Matilda then introduced her son, Paul, noting he was a year younger than Claire. Paul politely greeted Claire, but Matilda quickly interjected, reminding him of the need for propriety. Charlie was impressed by Matilda's etiquette. Jacob suggested they cook together. Matilda asked Paul to chat with Charlie and Claire.
Chapter 874
Jacob told Charlie, "Son-in-law, there's good tea; offer some to Paul." He then added, "And don't forget what I told you!" Charlie understood: to prevent Elaine from disrupting Matilda's visit. He assured Jacob, "Don't worry, I'll handle it." Jacob gave him a thumbs-up. Claire questioned Charlie about his conversation with her father. Charlie deflected, saying he was to entertain Paul. Claire remained skeptical. Charlie insisted, mentioning the tea request. He then offered Paul tea. Unexpectedly, Paul expressed a genuine interest in tea. Charlie was surprised. Claire excused herself to rest.
Chapter 875
Charlie and Paul sat down. Paul remarked on the quality of the sofa. Charlie was again surprised by Paul's knowledge. He asked Paul about his familiarity with tea and Chinese furniture. Paul explained his mother's influence. He declared himself culturally Chinese despite his mixed heritage. Charlie made tea. Paul, after tasting it, politely pointed out its inferiority, revealing the tea's origins. Charlie admitted it was a purchase from a WeChat scammer. Paul offered to share his own high-quality tea with Jacob. Charlie thanked him, understanding his father-in-law's simple tastes. Paul mentioned the villa's origins, confirming Charlie's Feng Shui work. Paul, revealing his interest in the I Ching and other divinatory practices, asked Charlie for Feng Shui consultation for his new company. Charlie, appreciating Paul's friendly demeanor, agreed to help the following day. Paul was delighted.
