Chapter 936

Afterward, he returned to the car and helped Elaine Ma out. Her leg was broken. Elaine endured the pain, exited the vehicle, and was then transferred to another car by Charlie Wade. While in transit, she lowered the window and shouted a curse at a smoking driver: "Bad son! May you have a car accident and die today!"

The driver retorted angrily, "Ugly hag! May you die before your master!"

Elaine Ma, furious, tried to continue her tirade, but the car sped away. Charlie Wade, silent until now, sighed inwardly. His mother-in-law’s condition suggested severe trauma from her time in detention. He felt sympathy for his father-in-law, Jacob Wilson, who was busy dating Matilda.

The taxi arrived at the Aurouss Hill People’s Hospital emergency room. Claire Wilson was waiting. Seeing Elaine Ma’s injuries—a broken leg, a bruised and swollen face, and missing teeth—Claire's eyes welled with tears. "Mom, how could you suffer so much? Such a serious injury?"

Elaine Ma, overcome with emotion at seeing her daughter, embraced Claire and cried, "My dear girl, my life has been so bitter! I almost died these past two days; you nearly lost your mother!"

Her mood collapsed, and she sobbed uncontrollably. Claire, deeply distressed, cried, "Mom, what happened? Tell me."

Elaine Ma wanted to confide, but hesitated. She knew revealing the truth could lead to dire consequences. So she lied: "I fell victim to an MLM scam. They beat me, forced me to buy their products, and even knocked out my teeth when I couldn't pay."

Claire asked, "Did you call the police?"

Elaine Ma replied, "The police arrested the MLM organization, and me! I was in detention with your Grandma and Wendy, who bullied me relentlessly."

Claire was shocked. "Grandma and Wendy? Why were they there?"

Elaine Ma, breathless, explained, "I was unlucky enough to be with those two. They deprived me of sleep and food, even poured cold water on me. It was worse than hell"

Claire wept. Elaine Ma, feeling slightly better, suddenly thought of Jacob Wilson and demanded, "Claire, tell me the truth—who was your father partying with?"

Chapter 937

Claire knew revealing her father's date with Matilda would infuriate her mother. Already emotional, she said, "It was probably a gathering with old classmates. I'm not sure of the details."

Elaine Ma was unconvinced. "His old classmates don't get together often. This gathering must be different."

Claire lied, "I don't know."

Elaine Ma fumed, "That old bastard! I suffered so much, and he's partying? He's heartless!"

Claire reluctantly defended her father, explaining it was a prior commitment.

"I don't believe it!" Elaine Ma insisted. "He said he wanted a separation two days ago!"

Claire tried to calm her mother. Just then, Jacob Wilson arrived in his BMW 530. Seeing Elaine Ma's condition, he was stunned. Though lacking affection, he still feared his wife.

Elaine Ma's anger erupted seeing Jacob's impeccably dressed appearance—a suit, tie, and perfectly combed hair. She realized it wasn't for her; it was for the party. This heightened her suspicion. She hadn't seen him so meticulously dressed since their wedding.

Jacob asked, "Where were you? What happened to you?"

Elaine Ma coldly demanded, "Tell me the truth, who were you partying with?"

Jacob Wilson stammered, "The same classmates as before."

Elaine Ma pressed, "Why another gathering so soon?"

Jacob claimed more people joined this time.

Elaine Ma demanded, "Was Matilda there?"

Jacob Wilson panicked. He lied, "No, she hasn't been back in over twenty years."

Chapter 938

Elaine Ma pressed, "Really?"

Jacob Wilson insisted on his lie, deflecting attention to her injuries. Reminded of her pain, Elaine Ma instructed Claire to get her medical attention.

After seeing the doctor, Claire nervously asked about Elaine Ma's condition. Elaine Ma, terrified of permanent disability, anxiously inquired about the prognosis.

The doctor diagnosed a comminuted calf fracture—serious, but potentially treatable without permanent disability. He recommended a cast and hospitalization for about two weeks.

Elaine Ma, relieved about the lameness, was upset about the hospitalization. She longed to return to her luxurious Thompson First mansion.

The doctor explained that hospitalization was crucial for proper healing.

Jacob Wilson, secretly delighted at the prospect of Elaine Ma's hospitalization, urged her to follow the doctor's advice.

Elaine Ma, suspicious, asked, "You don't want me to come home?"

Jacob denied it. Elaine Ma, remembering something, asked Charlie Wade to contact Dr. Simmons for treatment.

Charlie Wade inwardly scoffed at the request. He stated that Dr. Simmons was out of town. Elaine Ma then insisted on waiting for his return. Charlie Wade stated that he may not return for ten to twelve months. The doctor reiterated that a cast was immediate. Elaine Ma agreed to the cast, but insisted on returning home afterward.

Chapter 939

After the cast was applied, Jacob drove home, while Elaine Ma continued to berate him, trying to uncover the truth about the party. Jacob remained silent, planning to discuss a divorce that night, keeping Matilda's presence secret.

In another car, Charlie Wade drove a tearful Claire home, concerned about her parents' relationship and her father's feelings for Matilda.

Charlie Wade received a call from Cameron Isaac, who reported that the Webb family in Eastcliff was searching for him, contacting Kenneth Wilson and the Weaver family.

Charlie Wade frowned. This suggested a concerted effort to oppose him.

Cameron Isaac asked if he should eliminate or warn the Webb family.

Charlie Wade declined outside help, preferring to handle it personally. Cameron Isaac warned about the Webb family's power.

Chapter 940

Charlie Wade insisted on handling the matter himself. Cameron Isaac mentioned the Webb family's 300 million dollar bounty on Mr. Lloyd and Marcus. Charlie Wade inquired about their whereabouts. Cameron Isaac said they’d left the country using fake passports.

Charlie Wade understood the motive—the Facebook cross talk, which the Webb family couldn't erase and was now trying to erase through violence.

Cameron Isaac reiterated the danger, mentioning the potential higher bounty on Charlie Wade himself.

Charlie Wade agreed to be cautious, ending the conversation after assuring Cameron Isaac he would handle the situation. Claire asked about the call. Charlie Wade fabricated a story about helping her mother with her MLM issues. Claire expressed her opinion that her mother brought many of her issues upon herself. Charlie Wade then started to consider the Webb family's actions; their attempt to unite against him suggested a significant increase in their power and cunning.
