"Yes! If my little girl can marry him, I can die in peace!"
"Phew, quit dreaming! Even if you're dead, he certainly won't like your little girl!"
As soon as Elaine Ma saw him, she rushed to his side and exclaimed, "Hey, Kevin, you're here! I was so nervous waiting for you!"
It was indeed Kevin.
Kevin smiled. "Auntie, I'm extremely sorry to have kept you waiting!"
"Oh no, Kevin, you're very kind. It only took you ten minutesโyou came so fast!"
"As soon as I heard you were in trouble, I drove over quickly. I even ran a few red lights."
Elaine Ma looked pleased but asked with concern, "Will you get in trouble for running red lights?"
"No," Kevin said casually. "The traffic officers are all my colleagues. A phone call is all it takes to fix any tickets."
Kevin cleared his throat. "Anyway, back to your problem. How much were you scammed out of?"
Elaine Ma sighed heavily. "More than one million dollars. They promised I'd get two hundred thousand dollars in returns this month, but now I can't even get my principal back!"
Kevin responded firmly, "Okay, don't worry, leave it to me. I'll definitely help you get all your money back."
He saw Charlie Wade standing behind Elaine Ma and his face darkened slightly. Ever since he'd met Claire Wilson, he'd been attracted to her.
He forced a laugh. "Hey, Charlie Wade, I didn't know you were here too. Do you have a way to help Aunt get her money back?"
Elaine Ma interjected quickly, "Oh, quit the nonsense, what can he do? The most he can do is shout slogans! Kevin, leave him alone."
Kevin nodded and scoffed, "Since Charlie Wade is incapable of helping you, let me try!"
Charlie Wade smiled faintly and said, "Good luck, Mr. White."
Kevin laughed disdainfully. At this time, the elderly people surrounding Elaine Ma said, "Elaine Ma, we're all your friends. Could you ask this handsome man to help us too? It's our hard-earned money!"
Elaine Ma said arrogantly, "Oh, that's not up to me. Kevin is here to help me; he doesn't know any of you."
The group turned to Kevin and began begging him. "Mr. White, please be merciful, please help us!"
Kevin found the group irritating, but he saw that Elaine Ma was greedy, so he said with a nonchalant smile, "Since you're Auntie Elaine Ma's friends, of course I can help you."
Kevin continued pompously, "However, I'm helping you because of Auntie Elaine Ma. For the money I recover for you, you must pay Auntie Elaine Ma a 10% commission."
The group agreed. "No problem! It's better to get 90% of our money back than nothing at all!"
Elaine Ma was overjoyed. The amount these friends were scammed out of totaled tens of millions. If Kevin could recover the money, she would make a million dollars in commission alone!
