The Amazing Son-in-Law: Chapters 1576-1580
Chapter 1576
When the old man brought Orion Exeor back from abroad, he arranged for him to live in the Wade family mansion, where he received meticulous daily service. However, after Wade Mountain was built, Orion Exeor had to move out and live there. The old man felt too embarrassed to let Orion live in the Wade family's staff quarters, even though they were well-appointed. He believed Orion was above such accommodations.
Despite the old man's attempts to dissuade him, Orion insisted on moving. He had been waiting for an auspicious moment—a favorable shift in his fortune—waiting for Charlie Wade to appear and give him a Rejuvenation Pill that would extend his life by ten years. Now, that opportunity had arrived after four years of waiting.
Therefore, he told the person in charge, "Please tell your patriarch that Exeor has fulfilled his promise. I've been away too long and miss home, so I won't say goodbye. Farewell!"
He bowed to everyone, pausing a moment to gaze at Charlie Wade with gratitude. Then, turning and lifting his head, he laughed loudly, exclaiming, "I laugh at the heavens and depart! I am a Penghao native!" He had already left before finishing his sentence.
Orrin sighed, "Even at his age, he still possesses such courage. It's truly extraordinary!"
Charlie Wade smiled and, while Wade family security escorted Orion away, said to Orrin, "Uncle Orrin, let's go home too."
"Okay!" Orrin nodded. "Let's go. We'll come back next time!"
Charlie Wade, acting as the driver, opened the car door for Orrin. After Orrin settled in, Charlie got into the Rolls-Royce. He started the car.
As soon as they left the parking lot, Orrin asked, "Charlie Wade, what did the old man talk to you about? He seemed to respect you greatly."
Charlie Wade smiled faintly. "He recognized me as a member of the Wade family and offered some advice."
Orrin was surprised. "How could he recognize you? He knows you?"
Charlie Wade shook his head. "I don't know him, but he's a descendant of the Exeor family, accomplished in feng shui and divination. Perhaps he sensed my connection to the family."
Orrin sighed, "No wonder the Wade family wouldn't let you go up the mountain, yet he said you weren't an outsider. That was his meaning!"
He continued, "Feng shui is so magical? How does one know when to act?"
Charlie Wade smiled. "Perhaps. Though ancient, ancestral knowledge demonstrates great intelligence and wisdom we don't fully understand. Like the Mayans, in ancient times, they calculated nearly a complete calendar, incredible to us today."
Orrin nodded thoughtfully, then remembered something. "Charlie Wade, what are your plans?"
Charlie Wade replied, "Tomorrow, a friend's grandmother is celebrating her birthday. I'll send a gift. After the banquet, I'll return to Aurouss Hill."
Orrin urged, "Why the rush? Stay a few more days!"
Chapter 1577
Orrin's words prompted a slight smile from Charlie Wade. "Uncle Orrin, Aurouss Hill has much that requires my attention. I can't stay longer."
Orrin nodded, sighing softly. "I hope you'll visit Eastcliff often. Angie and I look forward to your return to develop here!"
Charlie Wade responded briefly. Orrin tactfully avoided further questioning. Instead, he asked, "Charlie Wade, you're attending your friend's grandmother's birthday banquet tomorrow. Have you chosen a gift?"
Charlie Wade said, "Not yet. I plan to shop later." Although he possessed a Rejuvenation Pill, he'd never met Loreen's grandmother. Giving such a valuable gift would be inappropriate, so he planned to buy a gift costing around $100,000.
Orrin smiled. "I have a fan at home. The painting is a depiction of good fortune and longevity by Master Baishi. The fan's bone is fine-leaf red sandalwood, crafted by a master engraver. You could use it as a gift."
Charlie Wade quickly protested, "Uncle Orrin, I couldn't. I should buy my own gift."
Orrin insisted, "Nonsense! Between us, a fan is nothing. The subject matter makes it perfect for the elderly." He urged, "Don't refuse! Don't let outsiders know! Otherwise, I'll be angry!"
Seeing Orrin's resolve, Charlie Wade nodded. "Thank you, Uncle Orrin!"
The next morning, Charlie Wade declined Orrin's offer of a ride and left Sun's house alone, carrying the gift box. His wife, Claire Wilson, had sent him an address: Thomas's villa. It was a short drive from Sun's house—about twenty minutes.
Chapter 1578
In Eastcliff, the Thomas family was a lower-tier second-rate family, their fortunes having declined significantly in recent years. Only Loreen's aunt's marriage to the Kilgore family had prevented their further downfall. Yet, even as a lesser second-rate family in Eastcliff, they still held considerable standing compared to other cities. Their mansion was luxurious—a grand villa valued at least 300 million.
Charlie Wade's taxi could only stop at the villa's entrance, security being strict. He called Loreen to pick him up.
Upon hearing Charlie Wade's arrival, Loreen happily ran out, beautifully dressed and lightly made up for her grandmother's birthday.
"Charlie Wade, you're here!" she exclaimed, taking his arm and pulling him toward the villa. "I'll introduce you to my parents!"
Charlie Wade quickly withdrew his arm. "Loreen, that's inappropriate"
Loreen pouted. "What's wrong? It's okay to be close to friends, isn't it?"
Chapter 1579
Charlie Wade touched his nose. "Um I'm your girlfriend's husband!"
Loreen responded lightly, "I know, a fake husband. We've been married four years; I wonder when you'll play the role properly."
A limited-edition Bentley pulled up, and a luxuriously dressed middle-aged woman lowered the window. "Loreen, why are you outside?"
Loreen smiled, "Second Aunt! Where's Uncle?"
"He's busy, but will arrive before the luncheon," the woman replied.
"And my brother?" Loreen asked.
The woman sighed, "I haven't seen him since last night. He's so disobedient! Please help me talk to him when he returns!"
Loreen smiled wryly. "Second Aunt, I can't control him. He'll snap at me!"
The woman sighed, "He's becoming increasingly disobedient" She looked at Charlie Wade. "Oh, is this young man your boyfriend?"
Loreen glanced at Charlie Wade, smiling shyly, "Not yet."
"Not yet?" The woman stressed the word. "Then when will he be?"
Loreen said embarrassedly, "Second Aunt, you're gossiping! Grandma is waiting!"
The woman smiled. "Shall I give you a ride?"
Loreen waved her hand. "No need, we'll walk. It's close."
The Bentley drove into the villa.
Charlie Wade was helpless. "Don't introduce me like that! What if there's a misunderstanding? What if they ask who I am and you say I'm your girlfriend's husband?"
Loreen pouted. "It's a joke! Don't be so serious."
Charlie Wade insisted, "It's a matter of principle."
Loreen nodded. "A matter of principle. I won't introduce you improperly!" She changed the subject. "Let's hurry inside!"
Chapter 1580
Charlie Wade intended to deliver the gift and leave, but considering his wife’s request to greet Loreen's grandmother, he decided to stay.
As they entered, a red Ferrari sped past. Loreen waved, shouting, "Cousin!" But the car was too fast to hear her.
Charlie Wade asked, "Your cousin?"
"Yes," Loreen nodded. "He's strange. He recently had surgery and is acting up again."
Charlie Wade found it unsurprising, knowing Eastcliff was full of wayward rich young masters.
Luxury cars were parked outside the Thomas villa. Two middle-aged men were greeting guests.
Loreen introduced Charlie Wade: "Dad, Uncle, this is my friend from Aurouss Hill, Charlie Wade."
Loreen’s uncle asked, "Isn't there a Wade family in Aurouss Hill?"
Loreen explained, "He's not related. He's a college classmate."
She didn't mention Charlie Wade was Claire's husband, wanting to keep her options open.
Loreen’s uncle said dismissively, "A college classmate? Let him come in."
Loreen’s father whispered, "Loreen, Young Master Sun will be here. Get to know him."
Loreen frowned. "Why? The Sun brothers are not good people!"
"What do you know?" Loreen’s father shouted. "The Sun family is third in Eastcliff! And they only have two sons, making their value even greater!"
Loreen's father always wanted her to marry a wealthy man to revive their family. He'd heard about the Wade family buying Emgrand Group for one of their heirs and sent Loreen to work there. However, she hadn’t met the chairman, and he’d lost confidence, wanting her to find a suitable match in Eastcliff. His nephew had mentioned inviting Young Master Sun, presenting an opportunity.
But Loreen didn't care about the Sun family or even the mysterious Wade family Master. She only had eyes for Charlie Wade. She said coldly, "Dad, I'm not interested in Master Sun!" She looked at Charlie Wade. "Let's go in!"
"You child!" Franklin angrily exclaimed. "How can you be so ignorant?"
Loreen retorted, "Dad, why are you so snobbish?"
"I'm doing this for your own good," Franklin said.
Loreen’s uncle said, "Franklin, let's not rush. Let Loreen spend time with her classmate first."
Franklin saw this as his brother's support, and decided to let her spend time with him first. But Loreen said angrily, "It's useless to say about it!" She took Charlie Wade's arm, "Let's go, Charlie Wade!"
Charlie Wade followed her inside. Franklin stomped his foot. His brother said, "Franklin, your judgment is poor!"
"Huh?" Franklin asked.
"Didn't you see how Loreen keeps looking at him?" His brother said. "Especially when you mentioned Master Sun. There's something going on here!"
"What?" Franklin asked. "You mean Loreen likes that kid?"
"I think so," his brother said seriously. "They're college classmates, knew each other a long time ago, and the kid is in Aurouss Hill where Loreen stayed for over half a year. Maybe they're together!"
Franklin's expression changed. "That little nobody dares to pursue my daughter! I'll make him pay!"
His brother stopped him. "Don't rush! Don't disrupt the party. Wait until afterward to talk to Loreen."
Franklin nodded, "That toad wants to eat swan meat! I'll deal with him later!"
