The Amazing Son-in-Law: Chapters 1766-1770
Chapter 1766
The smiling man before her was indeed Charlie Wade, the man she had long missed and loved! Countless questions flooded Nanako Ito's mind: "How could it be him? Why is it him? Why is he here? Am I dreaming? Could I be dead, and this an illusion?" She'd even thought that seeing Charlie Wade before dying would be enough, but his sudden, god-like arrival was almost unbelievable. Overwhelmed with surprise, hesitation, nervousness, and excitement, she trembled, speechless.
Charlie Wade broke the silence. Looking at Nanako Ito, he smiled and asked, "Miss Ito, how are you doing now?"
Hearing his voice, Nanako Ito knew this wasn't an illusion. The man she loved, the man she thought she'd never see again, had come to save her at the most critical moment. She felt ultimate happiness. No moment could surpass this. Even death now wouldn't leave her with regrets.
Overcome with emotion, she cried, "Charlie Wade! I returned from Aurous Hill, longing for a reunion. I never expected you to actually come"
Four ninjas appeared, one snarling, "Boy, did you kill Quintongtian?!"
Charlie Wade smiled cruelly. "I did. What are you going to do about it?"
The ninja gritted his teeth. "You killed six Tenglin family members! I'll have your life!"
Charlie Wade looked at them calmly. "You're noisy. If you want my life, don't bother the others in this mansion." He held his Thunder Order, muttering, "Thunder!"
A series of deafening claps of thunder echoed in the gloomy sky, causing dogs to bark and shattering the snowy night's silence.
Charlie Wade sneered. "Want your reward? Come! I'll send you to meet them!"
Unaware the thunder was Charlie Wade's doing, the ninja roared, "You'll die today!" He lunged, sword raised. The other three followed swiftly. One jumped, attacking from above; two others flanked him.
Japanese katana and ninja swords, forged by master craftsmen from top-quality stainless steel, were razor-sharp. A coordinated attack could easily kill Charlie Wade. They were deadly.
Seeing the terrifying cold light flashing in the night, Nanako Ito cried, "Charlie Wade, be careful!"
Chapter 1767
The Tenglin ninjas felt certain of victory. Nanako Ito held her breath, terrified of Charlie Wade's being harmed. She wouldn't let him be hurt, even if it meant her own death.
Charlie Wade suddenly retreated several meters—a speed that stunned the ninjas. They had the advantage of surprise and a faster initial attack, with their meter-long swords extending their reach. Escape seemed impossible; yet Charlie Wade did it.
As he retreated, he pocketed the Thunder Token, then drew two swords, launching them at the ninja in the air and the one in front.
Hearing the shuriken's flight and seeing the deadly cold light, the ninjas warned each other, "Be careful!" They tried to dodge, but felt sharp pain in their chests. The airborne ninja plummeted; the other fell to his knees.
The two remaining ninjas were shocked. This man's speed far surpassed their own. Their confidence shattered, they knew they couldn't win. They exchanged a glance, then pulled out ping-pong-ball-sized objects, throwing them to the ground. Dazzling light and thick black smoke erupted, providing cover as they fled.
Charlie Wade sneered, drawing two more swords and throwing them into the smoke. The ninjas, though far away, heard the deadly whoosh—almost a flash of light—and knew they were doomed. The swords pierced their backs, and they died instantly from the poison on the blades.
The faint thunder continued, masking the events in Nanako Ito's courtyard. Charlie Wade finally breathed a sigh of relief, as Nanako Ito, tears in her eyes, looked at him.
Chapter 1768
"Charlie Wade" Nanako Ito choked, rolling her wheelchair toward him.
Charlie Wade approached, asking, "Miss Ito, are you alright?"
"I'm okay" she sobbed. Her feeling wasn't just relief, but the immense surprise of his sudden appearance.
Charlie Wade gently touched her cold hand, comforting her. "Miss Ito, stop crying. It's alright."
Wiping her tears, she said, "I wasn't crying about what just happened" Looking at him with deep love, she asked, "Charlie Wade, why are you in Kyoto?"
He smiled. "I came to Japan on business. I arrived in Osaka and decided to see you since it's nearby."
Nanako Ito's heart melted. "Charlie Wade, youyou came to see me because you missed me?"
He hesitated, wanting an excuse, but felt his journey spoke for itself. He nodded, saying somewhat awkwardly, "Yes"
Nanako Ito was overjoyed, tears mingling with her joyous smile. "I never expected Charlie Wade to still think of methis is a surprise" She then asked, "How did you know I was in Kyoto?"
"I met Koichi Tanaka at Eastcliff Airport a few days ago," he replied.
"Oh!" she said shyly. "Charlie Wade, thank you for remembering me, and for saving my life."
He smiled. "You're welcome." He then asked, "You've been in a wheelchair. Hasn't your body recovered?"
"No," she replied. "Since the incident with Aurora, I've been seriously injured. I was treated in Tokyo, but my recovery is slow. It might take years to walk again."
He nodded seriously. "I came to help you heal. I didn't expect to encounter that."
She smiled gratefully. "Charlie Wade, the best doctors in Japan have seen me. They say a full recovery is unlikely. Walking again in a few years would be a miracle." Looking at him intently, she added, "You came to see me; that means more than a full recovery."
"I missed you so much. My greatest wish wasn't recovery, but to see you again" Taking his hand, she said affectionately, "Thank you, Charlie Wade! You're here. That's a blessing. If I can walk in the snow with you, I'll have no regrets."
Feeling distressed, Charlie Wade said seriously, "Nanako, I can heal you completely!"
Chapter 1769
Nanako Ito was stunned. She couldn't believe it, yet trusted Charlie Wade implicitly. "Charlie Wade, you really can heal me?"
He nodded. "But first, I need to deal with the bodies."
"I'll call the butler!"
"No," he stopped her. "I had a conflict with your father in Tokyo. Telling the butler would alert him, and that wouldn't be good."
"You saw my father in Tokyo?! Why did you conflict?"
He shrugged. "Long story. I'll tell you later, after I treat you."
She giggled. "Father must have suffered a lot"
He chuckled. "He just lost a little money."
"It doesn't matter; he's not short of money," she said.
He coughed. "He lost 4.5 billion US dollars."
She gasped. "4.5 billion? You're kidding, right?"
He smiled. "I'm not. But I haven't decided if it really cost him that much."
"Charlie Wade, don't worry about it. Consider it a thank you for saving my life. My life is worth more than 4.5 billion to him."
He laughed. "You're generous. Aren't you afraid he'll be angry?"
She shook her head seriously. "If he is, I'll run away and join you in China, and never come back!"
Charlie Wade was speechless. He didn't know if she was joking, and he couldn't explain it to Claire.
Seeing his hesitation, she quickly smiled. "Charlie Wade, I'm joking. Even if I went to China, I'd buy my own house in Aurous Hill. I wouldn't trouble you!"
He sighed. "Let's talk later. I'll deal with those bodies first. Which room is unused?"
She pointed to the west wing. "That's a storage room, but it's empty."
He nodded. "It's cold. I'll take you back, then deal with the bodies. After that, I'll treat your wounds, and then you can tell the housekeeper to dispose of the bodies."
"Charlie Wade, will you leave after healing me?"
"Yes," he nodded. "I need to go back to Osaka, then to China."
She looked forlorn. "I hopemy injury never heals"
He blurted, "Don't talk nonsense."
"Then Charlie Wade can stay here forever? You said you'd leave only after my injury is cured."
He smiled helplessly. "Don't worry, I'll cure you."
Chapter 1770
"Charlie Wade, will I see you again?"
He nodded. "Yes. I'm establishing a business in Japan, so I'll come often."
"That's great!" she said joyfully. "Charlie Wade, can you promise me something?"
"Anything."
"Tell me every time you come to Japan, and let me see you if it's convenient. And if I go to China, let me see you too."
He smiled. "No problem."
She cheered like a child. "I'll see you often!"
Touched by her smile, his voice softened. "Okay, I'll take you back to your room, then I'll treat you."
He wheeled her back to her boudoir, a typical Japanese classical room with natural wood floors, a tea table, bookcase, flower arrangement table, and calligraphy on the walls.
He helped her to the futon, their hands and bodies touching intimately, causing his heart to race and her to blush.
He said, "Wait for me. I'll deal with the bodies."
She looked at him shyly. "Charlie Wade, I can't help. Let's have tea while you wait."
He nodded and left. He moved the bodies to the storage room, then returned. The room was filled with sandalwood incense, and Nanako Ito was preparing matcha tea.
"Charlie Wade, please sit!" she said. "The Japanese tea ceremony is different from the Chinese tea ceremony. I hope you enjoy it."
He smiled. "I tried it with my parents as a child, and I like it."
She smiled, "That's good!"
As she prepared the tea, Charlie Wade frowned. "Someone is scaling the wall!"
"Ah?!" she gasped. "Are they with the ninjas?"
He shook his head. "I don't know, but it's only one person. They might not be here to hurt you. Don't talk; let's just be ready!"
