The Amazing Son in Law Chapter 61

Clinton felt like he was about to die! "Damn it!" he exclaimed. What was happening? He couldn't catch a break. How had Charlie Wade, of all people, consistently humiliated him? He never expected the painting to be authentic and worth two hundred thousand dollars! He'd given his word—what now? Did he really have to eat the table? That was impossible! He could get a new car after his car burned, but how could he eat a table? He'd actually die!

The crowd taunted him. "Hey, Clinton, you said you'd eat the table if you lost. Are you going to break your promise again?" "That's right! Everyone's waiting for your show!" Someone slammed the table. "Hey, get on with it!"

Clinton's face turned an ugly shade of red and green. He mumbled sheepishly, "We're all friends, do you really have to kick me while I'm down?"

Charlie Wade chuckled. "You started it, and they're just reminding you to keep your promise. Why are you so bitter?"

Clinton hung his head. He knew he couldn't be saved this time. He lowered his voice and mumbled, "I'm sorry. I was impulsive and upset. Charlie Wade, I'm sorry for looking down on you. Everyone, I'm sorry. Please forgive me."

Everyone was startled by Clinton's sudden change of tone. Was this the same egotistical Clinton Tucker? No one remembered him being so meek before! But Clinton had no choice. What else could he do? If he didn't concede, he'd have to eat the table, which was impossible. If he shamelessly broke his promise, the crowd would have a thousand ways to humiliate him. Humility was his only way out.

As soon as he apologized, someone said, "Wow, it's rare to see Clinton Tucker apologize. Besides, you can't make him eat the table, can you? Let's forget it, shall we?" "Yeah! Forget the table, let's eat!"

Charlie Wade knew Clinton wouldn't eat the table, but he needed to be humbled for his arrogance. His goal was achieved. However, this lesson wasn't enough. Something worse awaited him.

Charlie Wade said, "Since Clinton apologized, I'll forget the bet. It's Douglas's restaurant opening; let's not steal his spotlight!"

Clinton breathed a sigh of relief, but his blood was boiling. He wanted revenge on Charlie Wade. Charlie Wade didn't plan to let him off the hook so easily. He texted Doris: "Do we have a deputy general manager named Tucker? His son is Clinton Tucker. Look into this for me."

Doris replied: "Yes, Joseph Tucker. What's up, Chairman? Any orders?"

"Fire him immediately."

"On it!"

Clinton didn't know his father had been fired from Emgrand Group and was undergoing termination procedures. He felt relieved about the bet, but secretly plotted revenge against Charlie Wade.

The Amazing Son in Law Chapter 62

Clinton needed to repair his reputation with his former classmates. How could he show off after being humiliated twice by Charlie Wade? As he pondered this, a commotion erupted at the restaurant entrance.

Everyone turned to see a group of menacing young men bursting in. They were covered in tattoos, wielding baseball bats and pipes. They didn't look like diners.

Everyone was shocked, especially Douglas and Lily, whose eyes widened with fear. A scarred man, clearly the leader, said, "Boss, why didn't you come say hi before the opening?"

Lily's face drained of color. She forced a smile. "Whatwhat do you want?"

Before the opening, Lily heard about protection racketeers in the area. The previous owner was allegedly driven out of business by them. Despite this, Lily rented the place cheaply, believing they wouldn't dare extort them openly.

She never expected them to show up at their opening!

Scarface smiled. "To do business here, you need to be friendly with our manager, Bill the Bear. We don't want much—20% of your revenue, and you'll be under our protection. Call us if anything happens." He continued in a colder voice, "If you refuse, your restaurant won't be open for long!"

Douglas and Lily gasped. Twenty percent? It was blatant extortion!

"I'll give you a minute to think."

Clinton saw an opportunity to be a hero. He stood up. "That's your boss?"

Scarface sneered. "Who are you? Why should I tell you?"

Clinton sneered. "My father knows people in law enforcement and the underworld in Aurouss Hill! I'll call the head of the developer's office!"

Scarface's expression shifted. He looked at Clinton cautiously. "You know him?"

"Of course!" Clinton yelled arrogantly. "Get lost if you don't want trouble!"

Scarface frowned. "If you can find someone I can talk to, I'll leave. If not"

Lily looked at Clinton nervously. "Clinton, please call!"

Clinton grinned. "Don't worry, I'll call the boss now!"

Emgrand Group had projects in the redevelopment area, under Clinton's father's jurisdiction. The head of the developer's office often socialized with his father.

Clinton called, speaking in an arrogant tone: "Mr. Lee, why are there racketeers in the redevelopment area? They're at my friend's restaurant!"

The voice stammered, "Oh, Clinton, what's happening?"

"A friend opened a restaurant, and some mobsters are demanding protection money. Can you handle it?"

There was silence. Then, in a low voice, "I'm sorry, Clinton, that's not my area. I'm in a meeting. Bye."

Before Clinton could respond, the call ended. Clinton was stunned. Mr. Lee used to curry favor with his father to get investments from Emgrand Group. Why the sudden change? Clinton didn't know his father had been fired.

Clinton was dumbfounded and angry, but with his friends watching, he gritted his teeth and tried another contact—the local police chief, who also had a close relationship with his father.

He explained the situation. The man cleared his throat awkwardly. "Clinton, he's Bill's man, and Bill is Don Albertt's man. You shouldn't get involved."

Clinton asked, "Won't you help?"

"You should know Don Albertt's status. It's beyond my control."

Clinton was flustered. "Can't you at least talk to him?"

The man chuckled. "My hands are tied."

Clinton was perturbed. "Mr. Kent, remember the police car donation your branch hoped for from Emgrand Group? Don't you want it anymore?"

The man sneered coldly. "Clinton Tucker, don't you know your father was fired from Emgrand Group?"

"Fired?! When?!"

"Half an hour ago!" He added before hanging up, "Think before you call again."

Scarface watched Clinton's stunned face and smirked. "So? Can't find anyone?"

Before Clinton could respond, Scarface slapped him hard, knocking him into tables and chairs. Everyone gaped in shock. No one intervened.

"How dare you hit me?!" Clinton covered his face.

Scarface laughed and kicked Clinton's stomach, then began beating him. Clinton howled, but no one helped. His face was swollen and bloody.

Scarface then turned to Douglas. "Since your friend was so arrogant, I'm increasing the share to 40%! If you refuse, you'll face the same fate!"

Douglas was terrified. Forty percent was like working for them! He said, "If you want 40%, you might as well kill me now!"

Scarface frowned. "Fine! Suit yourself!" He pulled out a knife. Everyone was horrified. As Scarface moved towards Douglas, Charlie Wade said, "Put the knife down!"

The Amazing Son in Law Chapter 64

Scarface turned and saw Charlie Wade. His expression changed drastically. He was shocked and immediately knelt. Before anyone could react, he threw away the knife, slapped himself, and sobbed, "Mr. Wade, I'm so sorry! I didn't know you were here!"

Charlie Wade was surprised. "Do you know me?"

Scarface stammered, "Yes, Mr. Wade. Bill is my boss. I saw you at Heaven Springs"

Charlie Wade understood. Bill, Don Albertt's man, was the one who tortured Gerald and Harold. No wonder Scarface was so terrified.

Everyone was astonished. Lily's mouth hung open. They couldn't believe a powerful gangster would kneel before Charlie Wade!

Claire Wilson was stunned. She pulled Charlie Wade's arm. "What's going on? Do you know him?"

Charlie Wade shook his head, worried she'd misunderstand. "No! I don't know him!"

Scarface quickly added, "No, he doesn't know me! It's just that Mr. Wade's reputation precedes him, and I'm honored to meet him"

Honored to meet Charlie Wade? No one could believe it!

Scarface rushed to Douglas. "Since you're Mr. Wade's friend, you'll have my full protection, and I won't charge you anything!"

A wave of shock went through the restaurant. Lily was overjoyed. The contrast between Clinton and Charlie Wade was incredible!

Thanks to Charlie Wade, she kept her restaurant, and received free protection! They could finally run their business peacefully.

Douglas was grateful. He grasped Charlie Wade's hands. "Charlie Wade, thank you so much."

Charlie Wade smiled. "You're welcome. I just helped out."

Scarface looked at the unconscious Clinton. "Mr. Wade, I'm sorry for attacking your friend"

Charlie Wade said, "It's okay. He's not my friend, just an acquaintance." He added, "Send him to the hospital. Don't disrupt the opening."

Scarface nodded. "Don't worry, we'll take him now! Mr. Wade, please continue the celebration! Excuse us!"

They left. Everyone looked at Charlie Wade. Their initial dislike was replaced by awe. No one knew how he had such influence.

As the gathering continued, many people fawned over Charlie Wade, including Lily, who had previously ridiculed him. She treated him like a god, offering him lifetime free meals.

Charlie Wade didn't mind. He'd simply helped a friend. In the eyes of others, however, he was shrouded in mystery. Everyone wanted to know what happened to the "loser."

The Amazing Son in Law Chapter 65

Claire Wilson was curious about the day's events. First, the car race. Why was Charlie Wade's BMW 520 twice as fast as Clinton's 540? Second, the painting worth hundreds of thousands. Third, how did Charlie Wade know underworld figures?

On their way home, Charlie Wade explained. The BMW 520 was a demo car modified to appear more powerful. Claire, knowing little about cars, believed him.

He explained the painting—he bought it cheaply from a colleague and gave it to Douglas as a gift.

The Scarface incident was more complicated. He needed a plausible explanation for their connection, since Claire had witnessed Scarface's deference.

He claimed Scarface's brother was a relative of a friend they'd met before. He recognized Scarface at the restaurant and acted on behalf of the mutual friend.

Claire felt something was off, but Charlie Wade was serious, so she stopped questioning.

Loreen, however, observed Charlie Wade closely. She sensed he wasn't simple and decided to investigate his secrets.

Clinton was severely beaten and hospitalized. His father was fired from Emgrand Group for corruption and arrested. The Tucker family was finished.

Since they weren't well-known, no one cared much. Everyone's attention was on the mysterious wealthy man online and the man who booked the Sky Garden of Dreamland. Were they the same person?

Their wedding anniversary arrived. Charlie Wade told Claire he had a surprise. Before leaving, he urged her to wear her elegant white evening gown.

Claire reluctantly agreed. "We're just going to dinner. Why do I need a formal dress? Even if it's our anniversary, do I need to dress up so much?"

Charlie Wade grinned. "It's our third anniversary. I want it to be special. I've booked a place, you'll be pleased."

He kept the surprise secret so well that Claire had no suspicions. She was touched. Their previous anniversaries were informal home dinners. This year was different.

They got dressed, hailed a taxi, and went to Paradise. As Charlie Wade looked at Claire, warmth radiated from his eyes.

"Claire, we're here to celebrate our third anniversary. What do you think?"
