The Amazing Son-in-Law: Chapters 1801-1805
Chapter 1801
At the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, the chief finally breathed a sigh of relief upon learning that Ito Yuhiko had been hospitalized and was out of danger. He lit a cigarette, took a drag, and sighed, "This strange day is finally ending"
His subordinate quickly interjected, "Director, the Banks siblings haven't been found"
The director exploded. "Can't you increase patrols? The Banks siblings are still unaccounted for!" he barked. "Unaccounted for means we don't know if they're dead or alive—but at least we can't confirm their deaths. My only request tonight: don't tell me anyone else is dead. I'll wait until tomorrow!"
His subordinate nodded. "Minister, you've worked tirelessly. You should go home and rest."
"Yes," the director replied, "I need to rest."
As he was leaving, someone burst in, panicked. "Director! Something happened!"
The chief, exasperated, yelled, "What now?!"
"It's theMatsumotofamily! Something happened to them!" the subordinate gasped.
The director was stunned. "First Machi Takahashi, then Ito Yuhiko, now the Matsumotos? What the hell is going on?! What happened to the Matsumotos? Are they still alive?" He added, "As long as they're alive, injuries don't matter. Just stop the dying!"
The subordinate's face was horrified. "Director, the entire Matsumoto family—over thirty people—are dead."
"What?!" The director threw his cigarette, tore at his hair, and collapsed. "I'm going insane! What's happening?! Is this still Tokyo?! Why is it endless?!"
The subordinate was equally distraught. "Tonight, the Matsumoto house burned down. After the fire was extinguished, everyone was found dead in the living room, beyond recognition. It was arson. The scene was horrific; many firefighters vomited and were hospitalized!"
The chief's blood pressure spiked. He murmured, "II" He fainted.
Chapter 1802
In Kyoto, Charlie Wade and Nanako Ito strolled through the snow. Nanako explained that she'd been confined to the Ito mansion since arriving for recuperation and longed for a walk. Charlie discreetly took her out.
Nanako wanted to talk to Charlie but hesitated. She began by recounting her childhood. Although wealthy, her childhood was unhappy. Her mother died young, and her father, though he never remarried, couldn't fill the void. He was busy and serious, providing little affection.
Her mother, a refined lady, instilled traditional values in her, teaching her tea ceremony, illustration, embroidery, poetry, and literature. After her mother’s death, Nanako found solace in martial arts, eventually developing a deep passion for it.
She then turned to Charlie. "Charlie Wade, tell me about your childhood."
Charlie chuckled wryly. "My childhood was extreme. I lived comfortably until age eight, with loving, wealthy parents. Then they died unexpectedly. I ended up on the streets, an orphan, and grew up in an orphanage"
Nanako was shocked. "I'm so sorry, Charlie Wade"
Charlie smiled. "It's okay."
Nanako reflected, "My childhood was happier, though my father was strict. He loved me, but his affection wasn't outwardly expressed"
She continued earnestly, "Charlie, I know you and my father clashed. Tanaka told me. I pretended not to know to avoid embarrassment. But my father is good at heart. I hope you can let go of any resentment and become friends."
Secretly, she longed for more than friendship—a husband-wife relationship. But knowing Charlie was married, she kept it hidden.
Charlie nodded simply. "If there's a chance, I will."
Nanako brightened. "That's wonderful! But don't misunderstand; I don't want you to befriend my father for the $4.5 billion. That's yours, not his!"
Charlie laughed. "Why are you taking your father's side? That's a huge sum!"
Nanako blushed. "It doesn't matter. You saved my life and healed my injuries. It's a reward from my father."
Charlie laughed. "Your dad will be furious!"
Nanako stuck out her tongue. Her phone vibrated. "It's late. Who could that be? A servant, discovering my escape?" It was her father.
Chapter 1803
Nanako was surprised by her father's late call. "Father, what's wrong?"
Ito Yuhiko's voice was weak. "Nanako, I had an accident. I'm checking on you. Are you safe in Kyoto?"
"Father, what happened? Are you okay?!"
"I and Tanaka were attacked. I escaped, but I fear they'll target you. I called to confirm your safety."
Ito Yuhiko lay in the ICU of a Tokyo hospital, surrounded by family ninjas, bodyguards, and police. He appeared mostly unharmed except for both legs below the knee, heavily bandaged. His legs were shattered, with extensive muscle damage, threatening infection. Amputation was necessary to save his life.
The doctor explained that the damaged tissue was beyond repair for an ordinary person. Without amputation, the infection would spread, causing death. Ito readily agreed to the amputation. Saving his life was paramount, second only to his daughter's safety. Koichi Tanaka, in the next ward, had undergone the same procedure.
Nanako, unaware of the amputation, asked anxiously, "Father, are you okay?"
Yuhiko sighed. "Tanaka and I sustained leg injuries. We're in the hospital, but we're out of danger. Don't worry."
He continued, "Things have been unstable. Be careful in Kyoto. I'm sending ninjas to protect you!"
"Father, I want to come to Tokyo!"
Chapter 1804
"No!" Ito Yuhiko insisted. "Tokyo is chaotic. So many deaths. Besides, you need rest."
"Father, I'm healed. I'll come to care for you!"
He didn't believe her and sternly warned, "Nanako, listen to me. Stay in Kyoto! If I find out you came to Tokyo, I'll disown you!" He hung up.
Nanako burst into tears, worrying about her father, sensing he'd downplayed his injuries.
Charlie asked, "Nanako, is something wrong with your father?"
Tears streaming, she explained the attack and hospitalization. "Charlie Wade, I'm so worried"
Charlie reassured her, "He should be fine."
Nanako shook her head. "I think he's hiding something." She looked at Charlie. "Charlie Wade, I need to go to Tokyo. Can you help?"
"How?"
"My father won't let me go. The servants won't either. Since we slipped out, I don't want to return. Lend me money, and I'll take the first train."
Charlie sighed. "It's midnight. The train is hours away. I'll drive you; we'll be there in three hours."
"Really?!"
Charlie smiled. "I don't lie."
Nanako worried about his Osaka business.
"It's fine," Charlie reassured her. "Someone's handling things. Getting you to your father is priority."
Gratefully, Nanako grasped his hands. "Thank you so much"
Charlie smiled. "My car's nearby. Let's go."
Chapter 1805
Charlie drove Nanako back to Tokyo. Cameron Isaac called, asking about Charlie’s return to Osaka. Charlie said he'd be delayed until tomorrow. Cameron, knowing Charlie's strength, wasn't worried.
Nanako was anxious throughout the drive.
After three hours, they arrived at Tokyo University Affiliated Hospital, Japan's top hospital.
Nanako, before getting out, asked, "Charlie Wade, are you coming with me?"
Charlie hesitated. "Your father may not want to see me."
Nanako insisted, "Charlie Wade, you saved my life. Any misunderstanding will be forgotten!"
Charlie agreed, reasoning that he could assist if Ito Yuhiko needed help.
The ICU floor was crowded with Ito family members and police special operations. When the elevator opened, everyone stared at Nanako and the stranger.
Ito Emi, Ito Yuhiko's sister, rushed over. "Nanako, why are you here?!"
Nanako bowed. "Auntie, how is my father?"
Emi sighed. "Nanako, his vital signs are stable. He's out of danger, but"
"But what?!"
Emi said solemnly, "My brother's legs were severely injured. They were amputated below the knee to save his life. He'll need a wheelchair or prosthetic legs for the rest of his life."
Nanako burst into tears, heartbroken by the news. She knew the blow to her father's pride would be immense. Charlie frowned, reflecting on Ito Yuhiko's mixed fortune: alive, but severely disabled.
