Chapter 1846

The rings were identical in style and size, even the shank width matching precisely. Upon seeing the ring, Nanako Ito felt immense joy, as if it were truly a gift from Charlie Wade.

Kawana, witnessing Nanako's reaction, was astonished. "Miss," she exclaimed, "Why are you interested in a brand like Tiffany? It's a rather ordinary jewelry brand; these rings are inexpensive, and the diamonds are hardly noteworthy"

Kawana was right. A diamond ring costing less than one million yen is commonplace for minor rich men. Truly wealthy individuals wouldn't bother with such a piece.

The wealthiest in Europe, America, Japan, and South Korea favor exceptionally pure, top-cut diamonds, some costing tens of millions of yen. These are custom-made into rings. Consequently, a diamond ring worn by the ultra-wealthy is typically worth tens of millions, making this one quite ordinary. Chinese elites, however, appreciate a broader range of jewels, including jade. Top-quality imperial green jade bracelets can easily fetch tens or even hundreds of millions. For the wealthy, such jewelry offers both prestige and investment potential.

The Ito family, a leading Japanese family, and Nanako, the patriarch's only daughter, finding appeal in this modest diamond ring was beyond Kawana's comprehension.

Holding the ring lovingly, Nanako shyly said, "Kawana, some things can't be measured by value. This ring may seem insignificant to you, but to me, it's priceless." She eagerly slipped the ring onto her ring finger. A happy smile illuminated her face.

Kawana Hisui gasped, "Miss, the ring finger is traditionally for wedding rings. Wearing a ring there might lead people to believe you're married."

Nanako realized her mistake. As a single woman, wearing a ring on her ring finger was inappropriate and potentially misleading. Undeterred in her affection for the ring, she carefully removed it, sticking her tongue out at Kawana. "It's fine," she said, "I just tried it on. I won't wear it out."

Kawana nodded. "Miss, where are we going now?"

"To the hospital," Nanako replied, "I'll accompany my father."

"Very good!"

Meanwhile, Charlie Wade had cleared security, possessing his passport and boarding pass, and headed to the VIP lounge. His flight was an hour away, with boarding commencing in half an hour. The lounge was relatively empty, so he found a seat.

A beautiful attendant approached. "Sir, can I get you something to drink?"

Lost in thought of Nanako, Charlie absently waved his hand. "No, thank you."

"If you need anything, please don't hesitate to ask," the attendant politely offered.

"Okay."

Charlie was about to contact Cameron Isaac when he overheard a woman nearby, speaking softly on her phone: "To avoid complications, inform the crew that we'll stay overnight in Highland Falls and return to Eastcliff tomorrow."

Chapter 1847

Xion's original plan was for everyone to disperse to Osaka, then board a private jet from Highland Falls to Eastcliff. However, anticipating that the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department would scrutinize exit records, a direct Osaka-to-Eastcliff flight would raise suspicion.

Therefore, Xion opted to fly from Osaka to Highland Falls first. Japanese authorities can only check flight information within their own country. A flight from Highland Falls to Eastcliff would be a domestic flight, untraceable by Japan.

Xion wouldn't normally make such a careless mistake as being overheard. She chose a secluded corner of the VIP lounge and spoke in a whisper. In her estimation, no one within three meters could have heard her.

Unless, someone was within a meter. She hadn't disclosed sensitive information, only the revised flight plan—Osaka to Highland Falls, then to Eastcliff. Yet, Charlie Wade, several meters away, heard her. He immediately deduced that she was from the Banks family. The strict exit controls in Tokyo were a direct result of the Banks family's actions involving Matsumoto. Those attempting to leave Japan covertly were most likely affiliated with the Banks family. Furthermore, her mention of Highland Falls confirmed Eastcliff as her ultimate destination, the Banks family's base.

After concluding her call, Xion closed her eyes to rest.

Charlie observed the woman, noting her beauty and a chilling aura. His enhanced perception, sharpened by the Apocalyptic Book, detected a subtle undercurrent of bloodshed—a trait uncommon in ordinary people. He concluded she was a Banks family assassin. Her words indicated other Banks family operatives were also departing from Osaka via private jet.

He immediately messaged Cameron Isaac: "Isaac, check for private jets departing from Osaka tonight."

Isaac, without questioning, began his investigation. Though his resources in Japan were limited, gathering such basic information was feasible.

Chapter 1848

Civil aviation information, even private jet routes, is not entirely confidential to airport staff and the dispatch system. Cameron Isaac quickly located relevant information, relaying it to Charlie.

Four private jets were flying from Osaka to Highland Falls that night. Two were small business jets, carrying approximately ten passengers each. Given the number of Banks family operatives in Japan, these were unlikely, so Charlie dismissed them.

The remaining two were Airbus A320s modified as private jets, seating forty to fifty people. Charlie concluded that the Banks family operatives were on one of these two.

He instructed Isaac to investigate further. Both planes were registered in China. One belonged to a domestic private airline serving a high-end travel agency. This plane had just delivered a tour group from Shenzhen and was scheduled to pick up a return group.

The other was registered to a Chinese real estate company. It had arrived in Osaka that day with an initial flight plan to Eastcliff, but this was changed to Highland Falls.

Charlie immediately suspected this was the Banks family's aircraft. A cold smile touched his lips. After issuing further instructions to Isaac, he closed his eyes to rest.

Twenty minutes later: "Priority boarding has begun for first-class passengers."

Charlie glanced at Xion, who had also stood. The Banks family assassin is on my flight, he mused. He collected his suitcase and pre-boarded the flight. The flight to Osaka only had eight first-class seats; Charlie's was in the second row, window seat.

A flight attendant offered to help with his suitcase; Charlie thanked her but stowed it himself. As he sat, Xion entered. He initially considered averting his gaze to avoid detection, but reconsidered. Xion's perception was superior to that of an average person; deliberately avoiding her would arouse suspicion.

Instead, Charlie stared openly at Xion, feigning awe. Xion noticed his intense gaze but simply glanced at him dismissively, inwardly sneering, "Just another lovestruck fool," she thought.

Chapter 1849

Despite Xion's contempt, Charlie's nonchalant behavior lowered her guard. She sat beside him, silently observing. This was her habit—a thorough assessment of her surroundings for useful information.

She found Charlie handsome and pleasant, though his occasional direct gazes were unsettling. Turning to him, she smiled, "Sir, are you Chinese?"

Charlie feigned surprise. "How can you tell? This isn't a flight to China."

Xion smiled. "There's a noticeable difference between Japanese and Chinese men; Japanese men tend to have shaved eyebrows and distinct hairstyles and clothing styles."

"You're observant," Charlie complimented.

"Where in China are you from?" Xion asked.

"Southern region," Charlie replied casually.

"Ah, the southern region," Xion smiled. "A prosperous area. The soil and water there are truly nourishing."

She then probed, "Since you're from the southern region, you must know the Webb family, yes?" She intended to test his honesty; if he wasn't lying, he might be a useful tool, a potential shield in an emergency.

Charlie knew she was testing him. "Who doesn't know the Webb family? Donald is the current head. He has two sons, Sean and Kian. Kian is notorious for his unusual dietary habits."

Xion smiled, "I didn't expect you to be so familiar with Webb family affairs."

"Of course," Charlie replied playfully. Leaning closer, he whispered, "I have more exciting news."

Xion frowned. "Just say it."

"Such secrets aren't revealed casually," Charlie teased. "Come closer if you want to hear it."

Xion reluctantly moved closer, her tone frigid. "Hurry up!"

Charlie leaned in, whispering in her ear, "Donald's brother-in-law, Marcone, the leader of the southern region gang, was recently killed, along with his wife and several others."

Xion recoiled. "That's all? That was all over the short video platforms. Is there anything else?"

Charlie shrugged. "I assumed you didn't know."

Xion glared at him, realizing he'd used the information to get closer, though she wasn't harmed. Her guard, however, was further lowered.

Chapter 1850

Seeing Xion silent, Charlie leaned in again. "So, where are you from? I told you something; now it's your turn."

"You telling me doesn't obligate me to tell you," Xion stated flatly.

"Don't be so cold, beautiful," Charlie said. "Smile more; it'll make you even more attractive."

Xion rubbed her temples. "I'm sorry, I want to rest."

Charlie pressed on, "What brings you to Osaka? Are you going to or returning from Osaka?"

Xion opened her eyes, frowning. "How did you know I'm not returning from Osaka?"

"Tokyo won't let you leave directly," Charlie sighed. "My family is waiting for me for New Year's. There is no option but to leave from Osaka."

Xion thought, "I'm being too sensitive. People wanting to leave Tokyo for China often depart from Osaka or other northern airports. It's normal."

She lost interest in talking. "Okay, I'll rest. Unless necessary, don't bother me."

Charlie, undeterred, asked, "Your accent sounds like you're from Eastcliff!"

Xion's brow furrowed; she quickly corrected, "I'm not from Eastcliff; I'm from Highland Falls." Japan's exit restrictions targeted Eastcliff residents, so she’d been cautious.

Charlie said, "Oh, come now. We're both Chinese. It's fate we're on the same plane. No need to hide it from a fellow countryman. Your accent sounds distinctly Eastcliff, not Highland Falls."

Xion was exasperated. She was convinced Charlie was harmless—just talkative and slightly sleazy. She completely relaxed her guard. Closing her eyes, she ignored him. Charlie had already instructed Isaac to prepare according to his plan.
