Chapter 81

Raymond was dumbfounded! He never imagined, not even in his wildest dreams, that the vase would transform into a priceless treasure after being repaired with a few eggs.

He gestured toward Charlie Wade and said, "Miss, this is the man who repaired the vase"

Jasmine eyed Charlie Wade, wondering how such a young man knew the long-lost cultural relic restoration technique. Maintaining a polite smile, she asked, "Hello, I'm Jasmine Moore. How should I address you? May I ask where you learned this technique?"

Jacob Wilson, still trembling nearby, was stunned to hear Jasmine Moore's name. The Moore family! One of the most elite families in Aurouss Hill! Their influence, while not comparable to Eastcliff's wealthiest families, was unparalleled in Aurouss Hill.

He never expected to meet one of their relatives here.

Charlie Wade reacted calmly to Jasmine's status. The Moores were wealthy, their assets worth billions, but this paled in comparison to the Wade family's trillion-dollar net worth.

He stated emphatically, "My name is Charlie Wade, and I have no teachers. You could say I'm self-taught." He continued, "I repaired the Yuchunhu vase your father damaged. Please assess its value and let us know if compensation is still required."

Jasmine shook her head, smiling. "After restoration, this vase far exceeds its original value. We owe you."

Charlie Wade smiled faintly. "My pleasure. Since the matter is resolved, we should leave."

Jasmine's eyes twinkled, reluctant to let Charlie Wade go so quickly. She smiled, "Sir, I seem to have forgotten your name."

She produced her card. "This is my card; you can call me at the number listed."

Charlie Wade accepted the card. "My name is Charlie Wade, but I don't have a business card."

"It's alright," Jasmine said. "Could you give me your number, then?"

Charlie Wade studied her. He felt it advantageous to expand his connections. Moreover, Jasmine Moore seemed respectful and unassuming, unlike someone arrogant and controlling. Friendship wouldn't hurt.

They exchanged numbers.

Jasmine then asked, "Mr. Wade, may I drive you home?"

Charlie Wade waved his hand. "Thanks, but no thanks. I drove here."

Jasmine replied, "I'll see you off, then!"

Jasmine accompanied Charlie Wade and Jacob Wilson to their BMW 530. She watched them leave before returning to Vintage Deluxe.

Chapter 82

On their way home, Jacob Wilson curiously asked, "Charlie Wade, where did you learn cultural relic restoration?"

The contents of the Apocalyptic Book raced through Charlie Wade's mind. He couldn't tell his father-in-law about the magical book inside the broken vase.

He lied, "I learned it from a cleaner at the orphanage."

Jacob Wilson replied, "Thank God you were there, or I might be in prison now" He added, as if suddenly remembering something, "Oh yes! Don't tell Claire or your mother-in-law about this, understand?"

Charlie Wade nodded. "Understood."

The old man sighed deeply, massaging his face. "If I'd known you had this ability, I wouldn't have rushed you! I'm exhausted and bruised! How unlucky!" He asked, "Is my face still red?"

Charlie Wade replied, "A little."

The old man groaned. "Tell your mother I ran into a post, if she asks."

Upon reaching home, Charlie Wade went to the grocery store, preparing dinner for the family. He called his wife, Claire Wilson, to see if she needed anything. She was attending a business dinner with Doris Young that evening.

Doris had also mentioned, "Sir, the project is underway, so your wife will be busy. I hope you don't mind."

Charlie Wade, understanding the importance of the project, replied, "The company better serve good food and treat her well."

Doris immediately replied, "Don't worry, I'll treat her to the best dinner the company offers."

"Okay, good," Charlie Wade texted back. Since his wife wouldn't be home, he chose simple ingredients for a quick dinner for his in-laws.

After dinner, his in-laws went square dancing, while Charlie Wade enjoyed some downtime. Suddenly, he received a call from Douglas Adams.

Chapter 83

Charlie Wade hesitated. Douglas had previously yelled at him after he'd offered help. But, considering Douglas's pathetic state, he decided to answer. "What's up?"

On the other end, Douglas sobbed frantically. "Charlie Wade, my dearest brother! I'm so sorry, I wronged you!"

Charlie Wade's expression softened. "You found out the truth?"

Douglas cried, "After our fight, I felt uneasy. I tracked her iPhone and found her at a suburban villa. When I confronted her, I was beaten up by her bodyguards and butlers and sent to the hospital." He broke down again. "Charlie Wade, I was blinded! I was wrong!"

Charlie Wade sighed. "I don't blame you. Which hospital are you in?"

"Silverwing Hospital," Douglas sobbed. "The doctor says I won't walk for days. I spent all my money on the restaurant; I'm broke and can't pay my bills."

Charlie Wade asked, "They didn't give you any financial assistance?"

"No" Douglas trailed off.

"Did you call the police?"

"I did, but they said I trespassed, and they were defending themselves."

"How dare they!" Charlie Wade was furious. "Wait for me; I'll be there in minutes!"

Chapter 84

At Silverwing Hospital, Douglas lay injured. At Charlie Wade's arrival, Douglas wept.

"Charlie Wade" Douglas sobbed.

Charlie Wade approached him. "It's alright, she's just a bitch; she's not worth it."

Douglas continued, "I chased her for three years, throwing away my self-respect! I feel like a lowly dog, and now I realize I had nothing to begin with" He choked on his tears. "That bitch didn't just break up with me; she wanted me to lose everything! I spent every penny, even my savings, on that restaurant, and now she refuses to pay me back! How could I have fallen for such a wicked woman!"

Charlie Wade comforted him. "Douglas, you need to let go. You can start again! What about the painting I gave you? It's worth at least twenty thousand dollars—enough to start a small business."

Douglas nodded. "It's with me. Thanks for reminding me to bring it; otherwise, she would have taken that too!"

Charlie Wade sighed. "That settles it. Get some rest. I'll get you something to eat and pay your hospital bills."

Tears streamed down Douglas's cheeks. "Charlie Wade, thank you so much I'll repay your kindness!"

"We're bros, no need to thank me," Charlie Wade said gently, leaving the ward. He hadn't bought anything on his way, but seeing Douglas's state, he went to buy fruit and paid his ten thousand dollar hospital bill in advance.

Returning to Douglas's ward, he found the door open. Lily Lewis, clinging to Jerome Search, stood by Douglas's bed.

Douglas yelled, "What are you doing here? To mock me?"

Lily laughed sarcastically. "Who has time for that?" She sprawled on the floor, adding, "I'm here for the painting! Where is it? Hand it over!"

Douglas screamed, "Lily Lewis, that painting was a gift from my brother! Who are you to take it?"

"A gift?" Lily scoffed. "Why would Charlie Wade give you that painting? It was for the restaurant opening! And who owns that restaurant? My father does!"

Douglas's voice trembled in anger. "Lily Lewis, don't cross that line! I invested ten thousand dollars in that restaurant, and you haven't paid me back!"

Chapter 85

Lily grimaced. "The restaurant has nothing to do with you. Don't expect a cent! That painting belongs to the restaurant. If you don't hand it over, I'll report you for theft!"

Jerome sneered. "Cooperate. My connections in Aurouss Hill are not something you want to test. You'll face at least ten years in prison!"

Douglas's tears fell like rain. "I've been good to you, gave you everything! Why do you do this?"

Lily chuckled coldly. "I never loved you! I only fall for men like Jerome, someone who deserves my love!"

Jerome smiled sardonically. "We're quite compatible in bed!"

Lily blushed. "Jerome, why are you talking about this?"

Jerome laughed. "Let's show this trash how it's done!"

"No, that would be awkward!" Lily gushed.

Douglas threw a pillow at them, yelling, "You maniacs! Get out!"

Jerome caught the pillow. "Hand over the painting, or I'll break your other leg and send you to jail!"

Charlie Wade, who had been eavesdropping, entered the ward, shouting, "You try to hurt my brother? You want to die?"

Jerome turned, "Who are you?"

Lily replied, "He's Charlie Wade, the one who gave Douglas the painting."

Jerome laughed. "Oh, it's just the useless toyboy!" He looked at Charlie Wade coldly. "I'll give you three seconds to get out of my sight. Otherwise, I won't hesitate to touch you."

Charlie Wade scoffed. "Get out of my sight? Who do you think you are?"

Jerome clenched his teeth. "Testing me, kid?"

Charlie Wade responded coldly, "I don't care who you are, but you've angered me. I'll give you a second chance. Apologize to my brother, and let him break one of your legs. Otherwise, you'll die a painful death!"

Jerome began laughing maniacally. "Me, Jerome, apologize?"

Lily added, "Charlie Wade, are you an idiot? Testing my beloved Jerome? You want to die?"

Charlie Wade spoke coldly, "Shut your mouth, bitch!"

"You" Lily's blood boiled. "Jerome darling, he called me a bitch! Have someone tear him apart!"

Jerome clenched his teeth. "Just you wait, you unskilled swine! I'll have someone kill you!"

Charlie Wade grinned coldly. "Sure, but remember, if you fail to kill me, you and this bitch will pay a heavy price."

Chapter 85 (Continued)

Jerome dialed a number, shouting, "Zaz, I'm at Silverwing Hospital. Bring some men; we have a brat to kill!"

Charlie Wade didn't bother calling anyone. He sent a message to Don Albertt: "Come to Silverwing Hospital; someone is trying to kill me."

Don Albertt promptly replied: "Mr. Wade, who is this son of a bitch?"

Charlie Wade replied dismissively, "Less talk, just come."

Don Albertt replied, "Don't worry, Mr. Wade, I'll be there in a few minutes."

Jerome sneered, "You called for backup? What a joke!"

Charlie Wade ignored him and smiled. "As I said, I'll have you both die a painful death."

Jerome laughed. "Who do you think you are? No one in Aurouss Hill dares defy me!"

Douglas, struggling to sit up, panicked. "Charlie Wade, just leave! Don't!"

Charlie Wade helped him lie down. "Just lie down."

Douglas urged, "You don't know how powerful he is! His family is very influential"

Charlie Wade peeled a mandarin orange and gave a segment to Douglas. "There's no one I don't dare defy."

Lily chuckled. "Really, now?"

Charlie Wade interrupted her. "I have a feeling he's going to be crippled for life. Oh wait, your fate will be the same!"

Lily's expression dimmed. "Fine! Just you wait!"

Charlie Wade turned to Douglas. "Did you tell her father, Lewis Rhys, about this?"

"Yes," Douglas replied. "I called him."

Charlie Wade asked, "What did he say?"

Douglas frowned. "He said it was none of his business! He just wanted a reason for me to leave him alone!"

Charlie Wade continued. "What about the ten thousand dollars you invested in the restaurant? Did you ask him for it back?"

Douglas grew angrier. "He said I didn't have the right to get it back!"

"How dare he!" Charlie Wade huffed. "No wonder he has such a bitch of a daughter; he's scum!"

"What did you say, Charlie Wade?" Lily shouted, "How dare you speak ill of my father! You're dead if you don't watch your mouth!"

She clung to Jerome, pleading, "Jerome darling, he insulted my father! Beat him up for me!"

Jerome was short and slight; Charlie Wade was taller, stronger, and fit. Charlie Wade had also trained Wing Chun since childhood, making him a formidable opponent. Even five Jeromes would be no match for him.

Jerome knew he was outmatched. He held Lily's hand.
