Chapter 19: 06

"Fart!" Donald cursed, slapping Cynthia before Elaine Ma could speak. "You treat me like a three-year-old child? Charlie Wade is married. Don't you know?"

Cynthia cried, "I know! That's why I did this. I want to separate Charlie Wade and Claire Wilson first, then my daughter will have a chance!"

Donald sneered. "You're dishonest. I can see it in your eyes."

Cynthia was terrified. Her confidence stemmed not from strength of character, but from the Wade family's influence. She'd been arrogant and unreasonable, unafraid of reprisal in Eastcliff. But this was different. She'd underestimated Donald's hatred for Charlie Wade. He wanted to teach Charlie a lesson, then kill him. Reasoning was pointless. If Cynthia couldn't definitively prove she wasn't Charlie's aunt, Donald would kill her.

Choking back tears, Cynthia pleaded, "Sir, you hate Charlie Wade. You must know he was an orphan, raised in an orphanage. How could I be his aunt? If I were, why would I let him live there for years?"

Donald snorted coldly. "Impossible? My brother-in-law died, leaving a little girl—my wife's niece, who called my wife 'aunt.' My wife wanted to raise her, but I refused. She's still in an orphanage. Isn't that the same?"

Cynthia was stunned. Harold rummaged through her bag, pulled a document from her wallet, and handed it to Donald. "Mr. Webb, this woman is Cynthia Wade, from Eastcliff."

Donald frowned. While the surname Wade wasn't uncommon, he hadn't connected Cynthia to Charlie. Seeing the name, he instantly concluded she was Charlie's aunt. He grabbed her hair and struck her repeatedly.

Her mouth bleeding, Cynthia spat, "You think I'm a fool?!"

Beaten and broken, she cried, "Mr. Webb, please! I've done nothing to you. If you hate Charlie Wade, kill him, not me"

Cynthia dared not reveal her true identity; doing so would only make things worse. She resolved to endure. As a last resort, she would use her identity.

Donald grinned. "No grievances? All of Charlie Wade's relatives and friends are my enemies! You're his aunt and his mother-in-law. Neither of you are getting away!"

He shouted to a bodyguard, "Amao! Take Charlie Wade's aunt and shoot her!"
