The helicopter's engine slowly revved, then accelerated, and soon began to ascend. Rueben mused, "This is a good opportunity to see Tokyo from a high altitude."

As he thought, he heard the beautiful woman's voice in his headset: "Numbers two and three, take off. Numbers four and five, start engines. Numbers six and seven, prepare!"

Rueben was puzzled. "What numbers two, three, four, and five? What's she talking about?"

His assistant, pointing to the roofs of adjacent buildings, exclaimed, "Lord Moore! Two more helicopters are taking off—identical to ours!"

Rueben turned and saw two helicopters lifting off simultaneously. They were Super Pumas, identical in model and Ito Navigation Corporation livery to their own.

Surprised, Rueben asked the woman, "Those helicopters are yours, too?"

She smiled and nodded. "They're providing an escort."

Rueben was stunned. "An escort? What does that mean?"

"They'll accompany you throughout your flight, like a convoy," she explained.

Rueben's expression changed. "Is this really necessary? Won't Master Wade be bankrupt?"

The woman calmly replied, "Don't worry. Mr. Wade isn't paying a cent."

Rueben thought, Charlie Wade must have found another wrongdoer in Tokyo…

The two escort helicopters reached their altitude and joined their flight, the three aircraft moving in formation. Less than a kilometer later, Rueben's assistant pointed again. "Lord Moore! Two more!"

Rueben was astonished. Five helicopters! Was this really necessary?

Before he could finish the thought, his assistant pointed farther away. "Lord Moore! There seem to be two black helicopters on those buildings ahead!"

Rueben saw two ant-sized black objects a kilometer away. On closer inspection, they were indeed helicopters, similar to his own. They quickly took off, increasing the escort to seven helicopters.

Rueben was numb. What is Charlie Wade doing? It's just a pickup; does he have to make such a big show?

He heard the woman's voice over the intercom: "Taking off two at a time is inefficient. Let's take off four at a time next!"
