The Amazing Son-in-Law: Chapters 221-225
Chapter 221
Zeke said, "Mr. Wade, it's rush hour. Let me drive you, if you don't mind."
Claire Wilson, suspicious of this coincidence, nevertheless politely declined. "Thank you for the offer, Mr. White."
"My pleasure," Zeke replied, quickly exiting the car to unlock the doors for them.
Charlie Wade sheepishly rubbed his nose. He knew Zeke was subtly flattering him, and since he needed Zeke's help, he didn't refuse.
Zeke sat in the front passenger seat, chatting casually with Charlie while the driver drove. Claire Wilson listened, a confusing feeling growing inside her.
Zeke White, a highly successful and respected businessman in Aurouss Hill, was surprisingly obsequious towards Charlie. His efforts to ingratiate himself were almost excessive.
Claire observed Charlie's stoic composure, making the situation even stranger. Most people would be fawning over Zeke White; Charlie seemed completely unconcerned.
What was most peculiar was Zeke's offer of a rental property worth over 100 million dollars!
Claire had heard Zeke was deeply superstitious, worshipping the God of Wide Range on the 5th and 15th of each month. Perhaps Charlie's knowledge of metaphysics explained Zeke's deference. However, Claire didn't believe in such things.
Ten minutes later, they arrived at Spikeworth Corps. Zeke again unlocked the car for them.
Claire thanked him, and she and Charlie entered the building.
"Master Wade, I'll wait," Zeke called out.
Charlie nodded. "Thank you for the ride, but you don't need to wait. We don't know how long we'll be."
"It's fine. I have nothing else planned."
Zeke bowed. "The White family business isn't doing well. I'd appreciate some advice."
Charlie smiled. "You were born in the Year of the Rooster, weren't you? Your birth sign clashes with this year's Tai Sui, causing your misfortune. Once that passes, things will improve."
Zeke was stunned.
Charlie left. Zeke mumbled, "Master Wade a wizard!" He bowed deeply, realizing he'd made the right choice by currying favor with Charlie. He then muttered, "Graham Quinton, you got lucky latching onto Master Wade, but so did I! I'll surpass you!"
Charlie led Claire to the interview room, where she joined a line of applicants. He wandered the hall, then saw Zeke waiting downstairs and chuckled wryly. He couldn't help that the White family seemed to idolize him.
Chapter 222
George, lounging at his desk, flirted on a dating app. A text message arrived— his interview schedule.
He sneered, showing the message to Jerry and Joanne. "Guess who's at Spikeworth?"
Joanne, seductively dressed, asked, "Who?"
"Charlie Wade and Claire Wilson!" George scoffed. "Claire got an interview? That's odd."
Jerry demanded, "Why are they here?"
Joanne explained, "I heard Claire and Charlie were kicked out of the Wilson family. She's probably looking for a new job."
Jerry grumbled about Charlie's arrogance and demanded revenge for a past incident.
George declared, "I'll reject Claire's application and throw her out!"
Joanne and Jerry laughed.
George went to the interview room.
Chapter 223
Three interviewers were speaking with Claire. George arrived, feigning surprise.
He dismissed the interviewers, claiming he would handle the interview himself. They reluctantly obeyed.
Claire was puzzled. Was George trying to secretly help her?
George gazed at Claire, admiring her beauty. He was irritated that she married Charlie Wade.
He then abruptly rejected Claire's application, claiming her qualifications were insufficient.
Claire protested, citing her years of experience at the Wilson Group.
George insisted her credentials were only due to her family connections.
Claire, realizing George's personal vendetta, left in distress.
George gloated.
Chapter 224
Charlie, waiting in the lounge, was surprised to see a distraught Claire. She recounted the interview.
Charlie was furious. He immediately messaged Zeke.
Zeke, waiting downstairs, was shocked by the message. He'd been trying to impress Charlie, and George had angered Charlie's wife!
He stormed into the office, demanding to see George. The board of directors bowed before him.
Zeke confronted George, slapping him.
George, stunned, was unable to defend himself. Zeke repeatedly kicked and stomped on him, revealing that Charlie Wade had instructed him to help Claire.
Zeke fired George, demanding a 5 million dollar compensation payout.
Jerry and Joanne watched in horror.
Chapter 225
George was devastated. He had signed a harsh employment contract, guaranteeing a promotion but with severe penalties for failure.
He pleaded with Zeke for forgiveness, but Zeke was unmoved, blacklisting George from the industry.
Zeke questioned Joanne and Jerry, who denied knowing George. George blamed them for his predicament, and Zeke blacklisted them as well.
Charlie and Claire took a taxi home. Claire was silent. Charlie comforted her, assuring her she would find another job.
