Chapter 261

Two men approached, the leading one dressed in white, a white silk cloth in hand, his clothes billowing in the wind despite the absence of rain on him. The other, clad in black, possessed a powerfully built physique. Both had erected some sort of barrier around themselves, deflecting the rain.

Charlie Wade assessed them, recognizing their combat prowess. Inside the car, Zachary’s face went pale; he looked like he'd seen a ghost, flinging open the door to flee. Charlie Wade swiftly grabbed Zachary’s collar. "Why are you running?" he demanded.

"The Butcher Brothers!" Zachary cried, struggling against Charlie Wade's grip. "Mr. Wade, please let me go! I don't want to die by their hands!"

The man in black snorted. "So, you know who we are. But none of you are leaving until we get what we came for."

"The Butcher Brothers?" Charlie Wade frowned, considering their identity. He vaguely recalled a news report from 2014, while he was cooking dinner, about the brothers—brutal robbers who kidnapped the son of Lancaster's wealthiest man, demanding an eighty-million-dollar ransom. The father refused, instead paying the military one hundred million dollars for a rescue operation.

Lancaster's military was top-tier, with significant resources and a renowned leader known for his combat skills. Everyone expected the brothers' capture to be swift and decisive. However, despite a seven-day search, the boy remained missing. Eventually, the entire military was deployed, but the brothers escaped, cutting off the boy's ear as a threat and upping the ransom to three hundred million dollars. This incident highlighted their strength and ruthlessness.

Now, they were after Loreen, clearly intending to kill her.

Loreen's face paled. "I've kept a low profile in Aurouss Hill and never wronged anyone. Why would you kill me?"

The man in black sneered. "We have no quarrel with you; we're just doing a job."

"Who wants me dead?" Loreen blurted out.

The man smiled. "You're already dead. Why so many questions?"

Charlie Wade protectively positioned himself before Loreen and Claire Wilson. "Do you think you can kill her before me? Did you ask my permission?"

The man in white replied coldly, "Who do you think you are? We've killed countless people. You're not even worth killing." He continued, "But since you're interfering, you die too."

Claire and Loreen's faces drained of color. These were clearly ruthless killers.

Charlie Wade turned to Claire. "Claire, get in the car with Loreen and wait for me. Don't worry, leave this to me."

Chapter 262

Claire was reluctant. "No! I want to stay with you!"

Charlie Wade said firmly, "Go! You'll only distract me. It's better if we don't all get hurt."

Claire led Loreen to the car. As she did, a small white stone fell from Loreen's pocket.

Charlie sneered at the Butcher Brothers. "You're ants to me, threatening me? You must be tired of living!"

The man in black smirked, "Let's see who's the ant." He lunged at Charlie Wade, aiming a powerful punch. But Charlie Wade easily anticipated the blow, calmly stating, "I think you don't want to live anymore." He kicked the man hard in the groin. The man, though fast, was no match for Charlie Wade's speed. He doubled over in agony, clutching his crotch. Blood seeped through his trousers. He cried out, "Brother… my crotch…"

The man in white was shocked; not only did Charlie Wade dodge his brother's attack, he inflicted crippling damage with one blow. His expression changed, recognizing Charlie Wade's exceptional skill and inner strength. Charlie Wade seemed like a seasoned warrior, despite his twenties. The man in white hesitated, knowing any fight would be a close one.

Charlie Wade stepped on the fallen man's face, pushing his head into the muddy water. "Weren't you arrogant? Feels like you just lost your manhood, doesn't it?"

The man in black screamed, "Brother, kill him! Kill him!"

The man in white saw his brother being humiliated and enraged. He cared nothing about Charlie Wade's skill; all he wanted was revenge. He roared, "I'll skin you alive and eat your flesh!"

Charlie Wade laughed. "Eat my flesh? With your pathetic skills, you're not worthy of my… spit!"

Chapter 263

The man in white attacked with blinding speed, his punch creating a wave that dispersed the rain around him. Water vaporized on contact with his hand.

Zachary cowered under the car, terrified. Loreen held her breath in fear, terrified that Charlie Wade might die. Claire, though anxious, believed in Charlie Wade's ability.

Charlie Wade met the man's gaze unflinchingly. As he approached, Charlie grabbed his fist, twisting it 180 degrees. A sickening crack echoed, followed by the man's scream. His hand was dislocated, the bones and blood vessels shattered.

"Brother!" the fallen man cried out.

Charlie Wade stepped on his face again. The man's upper body hit the ground; he coughed up blood and then went still.

The man in white felt like he was about to collapse. Gathering his remaining strength, he formed his right hand into an eagle claw and attacked, leaving a dozen hand shadows in his wake. He aimed to gouge Charlie Wade's eyes and pierce his brain.

Charlie Wade simply smiled coldly. He raised his hand and slapped the man. An unseen surge of energy—more powerful than a car crash—struck the attacker.

The man fell to the ground, lifeless. Silence reigned. Claire rubbed her eyes in disbelief. Zachary was astonished. Were these really the Butcher Brothers? How could they be so easily defeated?

Chapter 264

The seemingly simple slap was a devastating blow; the energy surged through the man's body, rupturing key blood vessels and crippling him instantly. The man in white screamed in agony, unable to comprehend Charlie Wade's immense power. He couldn’t understand how anyone in Aurouss Hill could possess such strength.

Charlie Wade punched the man in the abdomen; he was now helpless. Charlie Wade lifted him, his expression cold and contemptuous. "Who sent you to kill Loreen?"

Defeated, the man whispered, "Just kill me…"

Charlie Wade replied coldly, "Dignity? You don't deserve it. Refuse to tell me who hired you, and I’ll destroy your meridians so you can’t even blink. Then, I'll hand you over to the authorities – a wanted criminal is worth a lot of money. You'll rot in prison until you die!"

The man cried, "Please! I’ll tell you! The mastermind… Loreen's cousin… He wanted her dead!"

Charlie Wade nodded. "Then, go to hell." He punched the man, killing him instantly.

Loreen was shocked. Her own cousin wanted her dead? What had happened?

Zachary crawled out from under the car, picking up the white stone Loreen had dropped. He recognized it. "Miss, isn't this the Peace and Wealth stone? Why do you have it?"

Loreen gasped. "You know what it is?"

Zachary explained, "I sold this stone to Mr. Wade. He asked me for a similar one, but I couldn't find one…"

Loreen was stunned. Her savior, the man she secretly loved, was… Charlie Wade! She was in love with her best friend's husband! The irony was overwhelming.

Chapter 265

Loreen felt a shock as if struck by lightning. She looked at Charlie Wade, utterly bewildered. He remained unaware of her revelation.

Charlie Wade merely sneered. The Butcher Brothers? Just wild animals!

Zachary was terrified. These men were infamous, undefeated for years. Yet, they’d fallen to Charlie Wade. He was stunned by Mr. Wade's power.

Charlie Wade glanced at the bodies, then looked at the dazed Loreen. "Loreen, since your cousin hired the Butcher Brothers, he'll likely try again. Be careful; hire a bodyguard."

Loreen looked at him, her expression complex. After regaining her composure, she whispered, "How can I find a bodyguard so quickly?"

She was grappling with her feelings: her cousin wanted her dead, and the man she loved was her best friend's husband. She was heartbroken and helpless. And Claire was unaware of her friend's feelings for her husband.

Claire approached Loreen, embracing and comforting her. "Since Charlie can defeat the Butcher Brothers, you can ask him for protection." She assumed it was natural for Charlie to protect her friend. She didn’t know Loreen's secret.

Loreen felt comforted by Claire's words. She felt a surge of joy, the depression over her feelings for Charlie momentarily fading. She now saw him as a hero, a savior who had rescued her twice. Her feelings deepened, intensified by his identity.

She knew her feelings were wrong, but she also knew that Charlie and Claire were only married because of Claire's grandfather's insistence; they had no feelings for each other. Loreen had even learned from Claire that they slept separately.
