The Amazing Son-in-Law: Chapters 281-285
Chapter 281
Don Albert didn't dare speak loudly as the city's prominent figures gathered in his restaurant. He trailed behind each person, fawning over Charlie Wade like a lapdog, hoping for even a glance of acknowledgement.
Checking the extravagant spread and décor, Charlie Wade grinned at Don Albert and said, "Excellent work, Albert. Thank you for the arrangements."
Albert, beaming, replied, "It's my pleasure. Please, have a seat."
Charlie Wade nodded and sat at the head of the table. Albert bowed graciously, saying, "Please, don't hesitate to call me if you need anything. I'll be waiting by the door!" He then discreetly left and stood guard, like a waiter.
Albert Rhodes, Aurouss Hill's underworld king, was reduced to a mere lackey. He wasn't worthy of sitting with Charlie Wade and his distinguished guests—being able to speak to him was fortunate enough.
As soon as Charlie Wade sat, Jasmine sat to his right. They were so close, Charlie Wade could smell her faint perfume. According to seating etiquette, the most important person sat at the head, with those of equal rank on either side.
The Moore family was among the most notable. Jasmine, representing them, usually sat next to Charlie Wade. The remaining seat became highly coveted.
Graham gently nudged Aurora and said to Charlie Wade, "Master Wade, my daughter has long admired you, witnessing your incredible power. She considers you her idol. Could she sit beside you to get to know you better?"
Jasmine raised an eyebrow, glancing ambiguously at Graham. Zeke cursed Graham for his sly maneuver, irritated because he had no daughters to leverage.
Aurora's face flushed crimson. She was reluctant and ashamed. She admitted to admiring Master Wade, and her father encouraged her to seize the opportunity, but it felt awkward in public. Despite her embarrassment, she cleared her throat and said, "Master Wade, please allow me to sit beside you."
Charlie Wade, surprised, replied flatly, "You're welcome. Please, have a seat."
Aurora grinned, thanked him, and happily took the seat. Anthony envied the scene; he'd hoped for his granddaughter, Xyla, to sit there but Aurora's boldness had won. Making Xyla Master Wade's woman was impossible, but having him as her mentor would be an incredible honor.
Chapter 282
Anthony's desire stemmed from Charlie Wade's exceptional medical skills, surpassing even his ancestral knowledge. He hoped Xyla could learn from him. This, and seeking treatment for his own lifelong internal injuries, were reasons for bringing Xyla to dinner.
He looked at Xyla, subtly encouraging her to approach Charlie Wade. Xyla understood, her cheeks reddening with shame. She lowered her head, feeling a surge of emotion, occasionally glancing at Charlie Wade, her hands clasped together.
Charlie Wade was the most skilled physician she'd ever seen, a wizard superior in character and appearance. He was a rare treasure, though she knew she was unworthy.
Besides Xyla, Aurora and Jasmine also gazed intently at Charlie Wade, their eyes never leaving him. Unaware of their attention, Charlie Wade raised his cup, smiled, and said, "Everyone, it's fate that brought us together in Aurouss Hill."
The others immediately raised their glasses. Jasmine quickly responded, "Mr. Wade, you're too kind. Don't hesitate to ask for help; we'll assist you if we can." Anthony agreed. Charlie Wade smiled faintly, saying, "Let's make this toast count!" They all drank, no one daring to lower their glass before him.
After setting down his glass, Charlie Wade produced a box, sparking excitement. They knew it contained the miraculous pills. He looked at the group and said, "This is the medicine I've created."
Chapter 283
The pills, created from a recipe in the Apocalyptic Book, filled everyone with excitement. They stared at the crystal-clear pills, their breaths quickening. Anthony, the oldest, was most thrilled. He suffered from an incurable internal injury that had plagued him for decades. The previous pills had helped, but this new batch was ten times stronger. The thought of finally healing filled him with unrestrained joy.
Jasmine was also ecstatic. Although acupuncture had saved her grandfather, he remained weak. These pills offered a chance for longevity. She stared at them, then at Charlie Wade with intense eyes. Graham was nearly shouting with joy at receiving two.
Charlie Wade continued, "Modern medicine struggles with diabetes, kidney failure, and other deadly illnesses. But I assure you, these pills treat them."
Everyone was astonished. These were incredibly difficult conditions, often incurable even with the best foreign specialists. Diabetes, particularly, was known as an incurable cancer. Charlie Wade's claim was miraculous.
They could only marvel at his wizardry. Aurora's face flushed crimson, her gaze fixed on Charlie Wade, sensing an opportunity. Xyla also stared with affection. She knew learning even a fraction of his knowledge would create a sensation in the medical world.
Seeing their eagerness, Charlie Wade smiled and said, "Alright then, let me distribute the pills."
Chapter 284
They were filled with anticipation. Charlie Wade stood, taking a pill and giving it to Anthony, the oldest guest. "Mr. Simmons, this is for you."
Anthony trembled, bowing deeply and saying humbly, "Mr. Wade, thank you! You are a kind man. I'll do anything for you!"
Charlie Wade smiled. "Mr. Simmons, we were fated to meet." He placed the pill in Anthony's hand. Anthony, tears welling, was on the verge of swallowing it whole.
Charlie Wade stopped him. "Mr. Simmons, this medicine is potent. Take half to heal; save the rest for later."
Anthony, amazed, used a knife to cut the pill. He swallowed half immediately. Everyone watched intently. Within seconds, color returned to his face; his skin turned pinkish, and he began sweating. He felt a warm current coursing through his body, mending the damage.
"Mr. Wade, this this pill is incredible! My injury, which afflicted me for decades, is completely healed in minutes!" He burst into tears. He had lived a painful life, fearing collapse at any moment. Now, he was cured.
Gratitude overwhelmed him; he bowed again. "Mr. Wade, you're the best man I've ever met. If you don't mind, I wish to consider you my father and teacher."
Everyone's admiration for Charlie Wade deepened. This pill was priceless.
Charlie Wade helped Anthony to his feet. "Mr. Simmons, I understand your feelings and I'm glad to help. But please don't bow so formally; you're still my elder."
Anthony insisted on his gratitude. Charlie Wade turned to Jasmine, holding the box. "Miss Moore, this is for Lord Moore."
Jasmine bowed deeply. "Thank you, Mr. Wade." Charlie Wade gave her two pills—one overtly, the other secretly—a gesture that touched her deeply.
Chapter 285
Giving Jasmine an extra pill meant little to Charlie Wade, but it meant everything to her. She felt cared for and protected. He then approached Zeke, offering a pill. "Mr. White, this is for you."
Zeke bowed, accepting the pill with profuse thanks and promises of loyalty. Charlie Wade responded, "Mr. White, your son and nephew have caused me much trouble. If it weren't for you, they wouldn't be alive."
Zeke profusely thanked him for his mercy. Charlie Wade warned him to guide the younger generation. Zeke readily agreed. Then it was Graham and Aurora's turn, each receiving a pill. Both knelt in gratitude.
Charlie Wade seemed finished, but then called, "Albert, come in!" Don Albert entered, asking his instructions. Charlie Wade smiled. "We've known each other a while. I appreciate your dedication, so I have a pill for you."
Albert was stunned. He had overheard everything, but knew a man of his standing would never receive such a gift. Overwhelmed, he immediately knelt.
"Mr. Wade, I'm a rough man, I can't make a fancy speech. I swear my life to you; I'll walk through fire for you!" He accepted the pill, treating it as a priceless treasure.
