Chapter 300
The next day, the three groups came downstairs one after another for breakfast. Sienna acted as if nothing had happened, wearing sweet-looking makeup and joining them. Cain seemed more sluggish, tired, and lacking energy, clearly having had a bad nightโs sleep. In contrast, Cain looked much better. Seeing the contrast, everyone couldnโt help but marvel at Siennaโs strong mental resilience. No wonder she could effortlessly keep the Jenkins brothers wrapped around her finger.
After breakfast, the three groups set out to earn money. Having spent a lot of time with Phoebe, Maddox had also picked up quite a few of her habits. For example, he had learned to observe more, ask more questions, and plan carefully before taking action. So yesterday, while working as a waiter, he spent plenty of time chatting with the restaurant owner and other waiters. Through these conversations, he found out that a clothing store on Main Street had been hiring temporary models for traditional-style outfits. The job was simple: just put on their costumes and stand inside the store for customers to see. If the outfits looked good on the models, people would naturally be tempted to buy them. He heard that the base pay was 100 dollars. If they were outgoing and actively brought in customers, they could earn commissions for each outfit sold. He certainly didnโt mind taking on the job of attracting customers; trying out different experiences was quite interesting, and it could even help improve his acting skills.
So, he suggested to his team that they work as models at the shop and mentioned the commission opportunity. Cain was hesitant. โWouldnโt we just be putting ourselves on display like monkeys?โ The internet had been tearing him apart lately, and todayโs heat hadnโt cooled down yet. If he went to the shop as a model and got recognized, he was afraid people would point fingers and insult him. That would be way too embarrassing.
Maddox rolled his eyes. โIf anyoneโs getting stared at like a monkey, itโs you, not us,โ he said, glancing at Cain from head to toe, then scoffing. โWith your looks, the fashion world wouldnโt even take you.โ
Cain was taken aback and shot back, โLike theyโd take you either.โ
Maddox raised an eyebrow. โIโve been invited multiple times to join the fashion world. Several top agencies, both domestic and international, wanted to train me as a supermodel. But Iโm more interested in the entertainment industry, so I politely declined. If you donโt know something, just ask. Otherwise, youโll just look ignorant.โ
Lexie chimed in, โOh, I know about this! I saw it trending before. One of the worldโs top modeling agencies reached out to Maddox, but he turned them down. At the time, we were all saying it was a shame to waste his good looks and amazing physique.โ
Maddox chuckled. โWell, I joined the entertainment industry, so itโs not exactly wasted.โ He was confident in his looks and physique. Whether others liked them or not didnโt really matter to him. What truly mattered was whether Phoebe liked them.
Lexie nodded. โTrue. Your face is definitely easy on the eyes.โ In the entertainment industry, having connections was important, but there were plenty of people with strong backgrounds who still couldnโt make it big.
Chapter 300
Mass was notorious for his bad temper. If it werenโt for his looks and physique, there was no way he wouldโve skyrocketed to the top so quickly. Markles chuckled, โThanks for the compliment.โ Hearing Lexieโs words, Cain glanced at Maddox skeptically. โIs he really that popular?โ
Lexie replied, โOf course. His fanbase is probably several times bigger than yours. You look decent, but your height and body proportions donโt matter. If he can work as a historical-style model to earn money, why canโt you?โ
Maddox added, โThe shop isnโt even rejecting you, so what right do you have to reject it?โ It had been someone easygoing. Maddox would have minded if they took advantage of him, but there was no way heโd let them take it easy.
Cainโs face slackened under their remarks. โIf you slack off, then weโll split the food,โ Maddox stated. It wasnโt like they couldnโt find other work. โDo you guys really want to talk like this?โ he asked. He turned to Sienna. โSiruna, how about we look for a different job?โ He refused to back down, defending his pride. He really didnโt want to just stand there and be gawked at. But Sienna wasnโt thinking about that. She wanted more chances to be around Maddox. Besides, dressing up beautifully in traditional clothing and getting paid to stand there was a far better option than searching for another job. After the exhausting and messy experience of working as a waiter yesterday, she had no intention of doing it again.
Sienna looked at Cain with a sweet tone, coaxing him. โCain, I think Maddoxโs idea is great. Letโs go together.โ From what Maddox said, they could even earn a commission if they brought in customers. For Sienna, this was a perfect chance to shine.
Cain was stunned. He didnโt expect that everyone was against him. Even Sienna was siding with Maddox. That really annoyed him. With a dark expression, Cain said, โDo whatever you want.โ In other words, he gave up. After all, he couldnโt just go out alone to find another job. Maddox couldnโt be bothered to argue any further and led them to the vintage clothing store the restaurant owner had mentioned; the largest antique-style clothing store in Carlar, the best spot in town.
