Chapter 324
Hearing their words, Cain, initially feeling a glimmer of hope, fell into despair.
โCarl, I realize now I was wrong,โ Cain said, his voice heavy with regret.
Cain thought, Iโve finally realized itโSienna is toxic. Not only is she unreliable, but sheโs a troublemaker. Despite Phoebeโs harsh exterior and ruthless nature, she is much more dependable. I regret this so much.
Carl sighed deeply. โWhat good is knowing youโre wrong now! Itโs too late.โ
He then turned to the two masters. โMasters, if you canโt resolve this directly, is there any way you could help suppress his bad luck?โ he asked. โPerhaps with a talisman or some kind of horoscope artifact!โ
Carl thought, Iโm furious with Cain, but I canโt ignore it.
The two masters both wore expressions of discomfort.
โWe donโt have the power to create a talisman to suppress his bad luck,โ one of the masters said. โFor that, youโll need to seek out Master Flynn.โ
โAs for horoscope artifacts, if you can find one imbued with auspicious energy, it might help suppress his bad luck for a while,โ the other master explained. โBut we have no power over such items and canโt lend them out.โ
They certainly had a couple of horoscope artifacts on hand, but there was no way they would ever lend them out.
Carl thought, No amount of money would change their minds.
Carl understood their meaning. โIs there any chance we could borrow one from other masters in the Horoscope Association?โ he asked. โWe are willing to offer a substantial reward.โ
Taoist Master shook his head. โNo master would be willing to lend such an artifact.โ
The Ascetic Master suggested, โMaster Flynn has quite a few artifacts. Perhaps you should ask him.โ
Carl gave a wry smile. โHe wonโt lend it out at all. If they needed a talisman or an artifact, Master Flynn would have helped by now. It was apparent he didnโt like Cain at all.โ
Carl thought, If it werenโt for Phoebe, Master Flynn wouldnโt even bother with them.
Both masters admitted they had no other solutions.
Feeling helpless, Carl sent the two masters back to Oriar before heading to the person in charge to make a scene. He claimed that if the Horoscope Association didnโt intervene, he would report them to the Special Forces and escalate the matter further.
He also planned to accuse the Horoscope Association of protecting Sienna and the horoscope master who was helping her.
Carl thought, โIf Phoebe advises this, there must be a good reason behind it.โ
The person in charge, overwhelmed by Carlโs persistence, reluctantly contacted higher authorities. After some discussion, the decision was made to allow the person in charge to lend out one of the Horoscope Associationโs naturally imbued artifacts.
With the artifact in hand, Carl and the person in charge headed to the hospital.
By the time they arrived, Cainโs misfortune had struck once more.
After the surgery, Cain wasnโt allowed to drink any water, but his saliva nearly choked him, leaving him gasping for air. The slightest movement tugged at his wound, sending searing pain through his body.
Seeing Cain in such a terrible condition, the person in charge understood that only an artifact could temporarily suppress the effects.
He handed Carl a smooth, colorful stone. โThis should provide some temporary relief, at least for now.โ
โCainโs situation is worse than bad luckโhis fortune is being drained away, which makes it pretty serious.โ
โOne artifact will only provide limited suppression.โ
โIโll stop his misfortune from intensifying due to the backlash, but it wonโt completely stop it.โ
โYouโd better find a way to get another artifact, something for dual suppressionโitโs the only way to keep him from being so unlucky, at least for a while.โ
He thought, Iโd better make this clear from the startโif this one artifact doesnโt work and they come back complaining, itโs going to cause trouble!
He then emphasized, โLending out this artifact is already the extent of what the Horoscope Association can offer. So, youโll have to find another.โ
Then, he reassured them, โDonโt worry, weโll thoroughly investigate Sienna and the horoscope master helping her.โ
He thought, Thereโs no way around it. Given the situation today, the Jenkins family wonโt back down.
Carl didnโt argue further and politely saw the person in charge off.
Macaria carefully placed the colorful stone into a small cloth pouch and tied it around Cainโs neck.
Cain put on the pouch and immediately felt a bit more at ease. However, his bad luck showed no signs of stopping.
As the person in charge had said, Cainโs misfortune was too severe for a single artifact to suppress.
Feeling helpless, Carl had no choice but to use his connections, reaching out to everyone he knew. But despite his efforts, he couldnโt secure another artifact. By the time he gave up, it was already evening.
Elliot and Lydia arrived at the hospital, their faces filled with concern. Elliot, seeing Carlโs exhaustion, felt a pang of guilt.
โCarl, Macaria, Iโm so sorry for all the trouble today.โ
Carl shot him a sharp look. โThis is all your fault.โ
โWhen we return to Solara City, you and Lydia will spend three days in the family chapel as punishment,โ Carl added coldly.
Elliot and Lydiaโs expressions immediately changed. Being forced to spend three days in the chapel was a punishment reserved for serious offenses. Not only would it be physically uncomfortable, but the shame of it was the worst part.
Since Carl had spoken, they didnโt dare protest. โYes, Carl.โ
At that moment, Cain, finally allowed to eat, was drinking some oatmeal when he suddenly choked. He couldnโt stop himself from coughing violently, the pain nearly knocking him out again.
Once Cain regained his breath, he gasped weakly, his voice barely a whisper.
โCarl, Elliot, Lydia, I canโt take it anymore.โ
โIf this goes on, Iโd rather be dead.โ
Cain thought, This is beyond human endurance. The pain is unbearable, and every hour brings more bad luck, only making it worse. Right now, living feels more painful than death. My hatred for Sienna grew stronger with each passing moment. Sheโs destroyed me!
Elliot and Lydia looked at their son, their hearts aching.
โYou canโt take it, but we can do nothing.โ Elliot sighed. โTomorrow, Iโll reach out to a few more people and see if we can find another horoscopeโฆโ
โYour situation is more complicated. You need one of those artifacts infused with auspicious energy.โ
โThatโs not only rare, but incredibly difficult to borrow.โ
He had already inquired with the horoscope masters at the Jenkins Group, but they only had ordinary horoscope artifacts, which were now useless.
These words suddenly struck Cain.
IโMiltonโI have one of those artifacts!
โHey, we both happened to buy one at the market the other night.โ
At the time, Cain had tried to buy it from Milton but he refused to sell. He thought, The artifacts they have now are my only hope to stop this.
Janjar suddenly remembered. โThey have ours, but would they lend it toโฆโ

time, Cain had urged him to ask Phoebe to sell it, but he never followed through.
Jamar thought, Given Phoebeโs current attitude, getting her to lend it to us would be nearly impossible.
Cain couldnโt stand the relentless torment any longer.
โElliot, Lydia, why donโt you ask Phoebe for help tomorrow?โ
โIf she wonโt sell it, offer her a high price to rent it instead.โ
Cain thought, Maybe if my parents go to Phoebe, sheโll show some mercy? Either way, they have to try. I canโt take this much longer; Iโm about to lose my mind.
Cainโs suggestion made both Carl and Elliot furrow their brows in unison. They thought, Phoebe probably would disagree!
Elliot thought, I feel too embarrassed to ask Phoebe for help.
But Lydia spoke up. โYes, go to Phoebe. This is connected to her, so itโs only right to ask her for help.โ
Though Sienna caused Cainโs condition, Phoebe couldnโt be entirely blameless either.
