Revenge Forged in Prison

Chapter 32: I Will Deal With Him Tomorrow Morning

The closer she got, the faster Miriam’s heart pounded. She had never seen anyone’s eyes filled with such intense hatred before. She had toyed with so many men, yet this one was the most hostile. When she was three steps away from Caleb, Miriam suddenly halted.

“I’m not in the mood today. Lock him in the basement for now. I’ll deal with him tomorrow morning.”

Upon receiving their orders, the bodyguards hoisted Caleb, chair and all, into a dim, cramped space before finally stopping.

“Stay put. If we find out you’ve been trying to escape, we’ll make you suffer!”

Soon, everyone had left, leaving Caleb alone. He turned around, surveying the area. The walls were adorned with various instruments of punishment, while traces of dried blood still stained the floor. It was clear as day that Madam Yardley was evil, and who knew how many people she had tortured before.

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small knife, slowly sawing at the rope around his wrist. Under the circumstances, a simple action like that proved to be particularly challenging. After exerting a tremendous amount of effort, Caleb finally managed to make a notch in the rope. After struggling further, his hope seemed to grow, but the basement door unexpectedly opened.

In the wee hours of the morning, he saw Miriam smiling at him. She took a seat on the chair that the bodyguard had brought over.

“How does it feel? If you’re willing to obey me, I assure you, you’ll suffer less.”

Caleb could only lower his head in resignation.

“I’m just a commodity. Aren’t you the one who’s going to ultimately decide my fate?”

Miriam was taken aback.

“Does this mean you submit?”

She couldn’t believe her ears. Just a few hours ago, this young man was so stubborn. But on my second visit, his attitude has already changed?

Caleb remained silent, implying his acknowledgment.

However, the bodyguard was somewhat uneasy.

“Madam Yardley, he’s changing his tune too quickly. Be wary of him.”

Miriam’s expression changed instantly. “Are you all ignoring what I’m saying? Get out of my sight immediately. You’re an eyesore!”

“Understood…”

The bodyguards shuffled out dejectedly, quietly closing the door behind them. With no one else around to interrupt, Miriam became even more brazen.

“You are Galeb, right? From now on, stay by my side, fulfill my desires, and I will give you pleasure that others can’t experience in their lifetime.”

After she finished speaking, she reached out to touch him, but Caleb turned his head to avoid her. Miriam paused for a moment, then exploded in anger, “How dare you defy me!”

She picked up the knife that was hanging on the wall, ready to thrust it toward Caleb.

Caleb whispered softly, “I’m tied up. It limits our positions. Untie me first. I’ve learned this sort of thing in prison. I promise you, it’ll be an experience you’ll never forget.”

Miriam felt a stir of interest, yet she voiced her caution. “Really? If I let you go, you won’t run away, will you?”

Caleb shook his head.

“The Quixall family has sold me off. Even if I wanted to escape, where could I go? Madam Yardley, you’re someone powerful. No matter where I run to, wouldn’t capturing me be effortless for you?”

Miriam thought so too. She was well-acquainted with the upper echelons of Plainstedt and had no doubt she could easily find a down-and-out young man. She was confident in her influence and didn’t regard Caleb as a threat at all.

“Fine. Let me untie you. Don’t move, okay?”

A chubby hand grabbed the rope that bound Caleb’s shoulders, slowly cutting it away with a knife.
