Listen to this chapter:

Matthew looked at Johan, bloodied knife in hand. “Did you hear that?”

Johan, already collapsed in fear, had never witnessed such a scene. He always remained in his office. When Matthew spoke, Johan nodded frantically. “I heard it! I’ll call to retract the article immediately.”

As Matthew flicked the knife, blood spattered onto Johan’s face, eliciting a scream. Matthew said coldly, “I want to see the revised version.”

The smell of blood overwhelmed Johan, intensifying his panic. “Okay, I’ll have my people revise it and send over the final draft.”

Clutching his wound, Kyrie pleaded, “Can I go now? I need to go to the hospital. If I wait any longer, I won’t survive.”

Matthew suddenly remembered something. “You haven’t explained everything yet. Where do you think you’re going?”

Kyrie, in so much pain he gritted his teeth, quavered. “Didn’t you say to retract the article?”

Matthew smirked coldly. Kyrie’s feigned ignorance suggested he wasn’t revealing who targeted Wealthwave Group. “Tell me who is behind this! You can’t leave until you reveal it.”

Seeing Matthew’s determination, Kyrie conceded. “This is complicated. It started when I was in my twenties. I wrote an award-winning article, leading to many offers. For financial reasons, I went to Switzerland, where I gained honors and wealth. I was recruited by Seven Stars Enterprise and returned to Tuschen. This article about Wealthwave Group is part of my job.”

Matthew was shocked. This man worked for the Swiss. The Swiss had their sights set on Wealthwave Group. He needed more information. “Where is Seven Stars Enterprise located? What grudge do they have against Wealthwave Group?”

Kyrie shook his head. “Seven Stars Enterprise recruited me through a coffee company. I’ve never been to their office. But they pay well, and the funding for operations is generous. As far as I know, they have no direct grudge against Wealthwave Group. They simply oppose the traditional medicine industry.”

Matthew’s eyes widened; the news was too shocking. If Kyrie’s statement was true, Seven Stars Enterprise targeted not just Wealthwave Group but the entire traditional medicine industry.

It was hard to believe a company wanted to destroy the entire traditional medicine industry. “How are they opposing the traditional medicine industry?”

Kyrie’s clothes were drenched in sweat as he writhed in agony. He pressed hard on his wound, but blood seeped through his fingers. Terror intensified. “I don’t know what they’re doing, but I know what they had me do. Whenever there’s negative news about traditional medicine, I interview people and publish it. Then, I get celebrities, bloggers, and the media to spread it. I’ve done this many times.”

Matthew listened, his fury mounting. He knew these smear campaigns firsthand; they used every trick to tarnish the reputation of traditional medicine. He couldn’t contain his anger. “You’re a Tuschen native, yet you’re defaming your own people and discrediting traditional medicine. How could you do that?”

Kyrie’s face contorted in pain. “Discrediting? Traditional medicine is a scam. I’m exposing the truth, so why shouldn’t I do it? It’s not just me. Those celebrities, bloggers, and other reporters are all doing it. What did I do wrong?”

Matthew shook his head. “If you don’t believe in traditional medicine, then you can’t be saved. The stab I gave you isn’t fatal. What’s truly fatal is that you’re already beyond cure. You’re doomed.”

Though in pain, Kyrie was confused. “How is that possible? I just had a full-body check-up. You’re lying!”

Matthew said coldly, “A full-body check-up can’t detect everything. If they could detect everything, there would be no cancer or sudden deaths among young people. I know you don’t believe me. Let me ask you. Every morning, do you feel dizzy, do your lips feel numb, and do you find it hard to taste anything? Do you sweat profusely with yellowish and murky sweat in the middle of the night?”

Kyrie’s expression changed instantly. He seemed to forget his pain for a moment. “H–How… how do you know that?”

He did have those symptoms. He’d seen many doctors but found no cause. He’d given up.
